Nick Collins ought to thank his lucky stars that Stephen Lynch was on the ballot, because if it weren't for people in Southie turning out for him, he would have been smoked out of the water.
latter’s participation in the campaign might have cost Collins

Maureen always wants to be in the spotlight, now that she's the most hated person in Southie, she has gone AWOL. You can't throw all the blame on Moe, look at the morons who contributed to her campaign:

> Forry Lost Dorchester outright
I don't find any precinct by precinct numbers that would support (or contradict) your assertion. I do find stories that indicate that the old guard Irish of Dorchester did back Forry (or at least some of them did). I also found an analysis that showed that a good chunk of Collins's base is now strongly Republican (which would cut down on the number of votes he could get in the Dem primary).

The St. Ann's and St. Brendan's wards went heavy for Collins, despite Collins living in South Boston and Linda living on Richmond Street in Lower Mills.
There is a big divide breaking along Adams Street south of Florida Street with the westerly side going for Linda and the "Old Guard Irish" going to Collins.
There is always exceptions to the rule, but the whitest, shall I say "native white" (Ward 16 Precincts 7, 9 to 12), not "move in white", with the exception of her base in Lower Mills, voted against Forry.
Am I the only one noticing that the racial disparity on voter turnout here? Those precincts in the African American areas of Dorchester voted well below in total votes than the non-African American stations.
does this answer the question about identity politics?

Are identity politics ok for some identities and not others?

These are actual comments from Dahill's Facebook page.
Hi Maureen, went to vote for you in Salem but you weren't on the ballot. Good luck!

While I generally like both Dorcena Forry and Collins, and thought they both ran decent campaigns, I hope this is a wake up call to South Boston that it isn't the only neighborhood with an opinion in the First Suffolk or the city for that matter.

Not that there were a lot of Dahill signs in Southie, but did you see how fast they came down? Some of them they didn't even take the time to unscrew them, just ripped the cardboard signs off the frames.
