The landmark waterfront restaurant, which had actually been fading away for years, closes its doors forever next month, the Globe reports.

Say what you want about Anthony's, but if you had a crowd in town (like all you old relatives) Anthony's was a great place to go to eat. Something for everyone, prices weren't crazy, there was parking, and the place was able to accommodate large groups easily. Had that typical New England feel, also. Nothing fancy, but reliable.
What's the alternative now? Legal? Atlantic Fish?

Went there shortly after re-opening. It was not bad, just didn't change enough from the old Stockyard. I really like what the owners have done with their other restaurants and was hoping the Stockyard would be changed up a little more. I guess there is only so much one can do with a steakhouse, because I admit to not being that impressed (for the prices) with other such, fancier places like Smith and Wollensky either.

I deal with a lot of consultants who come and go. They stay in hotels in the financial district and don't rent cars. It's a struggle to even get them to agree to go to the Back Bay. There's no way they're leaving the confines of the very small city.

He was beloved amongst the professional drivers in that he always gave out free sandwiches to cabbies and chauffeurs out of gratitude for recommending the place to their passengers.
I can only imagine what will go up in there in it's place.

Back when that area was commercial, Anthony , and Jimmy's Harborside were signs of civilization down there. Nobody wanted to go near there (not me , it was part of my workscape, so as to speak ). Some people had wedding receptions at Anthony's , it was a big deal to working people. Now that the area is la da la, and you dont need him , dont kick him . Thanx guys, for the memories!

I probably only went there a few times, but I thought it was nice. Able to easily accommodate a large group. Good prices. Not presumptuous like every other place. It is what it was.
