By adamg on Mon, 07/28/2014 - 11:21am
Transit Police have released a photo of Daniel Nelligan, 25, formerly of Allston, who's on the lam on charges he defaced two historic trolleys at the Boylston station in January.
When caught, Nelligan will face arraignment for felony vandalism and trespassing for the Boylston incident and separate charges for three graffiti incidents in Brighton.
If you know where he is, you can call TPD detectives at 617-222-1170 or send an anonymous tip to 873873.

Age 25
You'd think by age 25 he'd be over such adolescent pursuits as graffiti.

It's a good bet....
You will find him living in Mommy's basement.
General comments say he's
General comments say he's from Whitman. Probably hiding out there.
Now this was a warpath
..I was happy to go on.
Adolescence is a prison a lucky few get to escape before the collision with senescence begins.
Maybe he was inspired by one
Maybe he was inspired by one of those government PSAs that equates graffiti skills with "what it takes" to go to college.
Guy seems to be a screw-up...
... a quick google search turned up A&B arrest in Somerville, larceny arrest in Boston, fare evasion on the T.
I hate to say it, but I think he needs some jail time. I don't think "cleaning rocks with a toothbrush" is going to fix him.
All that and this is the
All that and this is the warrant he disappears for?
of course he needs jail time
of course he needs jail time he is a criminal. he cant resist from doing bad things in society..

Swirley, your mean-spirited, unsolicited comments are not required here, but thanks anyway, dear. Rather than fixate on me, perhaps your time might be better spent trying to figure out why you're not getting any at home (I suggest a mirror).
Did you say a mirror?
This guy...
... has quite a few enemies in the graffiti community, mostly for disobeying street art's unwritten rules (tagging historical landmarks for one). Typical suburban nerd behavior.
A shame that his government name is out there now... better hope the police find him first.
Out of curiosity, what are...
...the unwritten rules? Where does restraint come into the picture? I ask because as much as I can appreciate the aesthetics (sometimes, a lot of the time it's just crap, sorry), I don't see what justifies creating "art" on a canvas that doesn't belong to you, whether it be a trolley, a car, a street sign or a building. Is the argument that the "art" improves what it's created on? Even if that's true, shouldn't it be the choice of whoever owns it?
Even as a former "artist..."
... I always considered myself a vandal, because that's what it is - vandalism. I'm also in my thirties and haven't been out for more than 10 years now. It's a young man's game for sure, since you eventually hit the age where it's impossible to justify that kind of arrest to your wife or parents.
The unwritten rules are basically:
1. No churches, landmarks, or memorials;
2. No "crossing out" other people's work;
3. No getting caught.
Ciga/Fugue is guilty of all if the above (and more, it's seems).
Also, murals
I see lots of commissioned murals (not graffiti-style ones) on building walls, and almost never any graffiti on them. I've wondered whether sometimes these murals are put up specifically because they know they'd constantly get graffiti on those walls otherwise.
Yes
As a matter of fact, yes - the city commissions murals to deflect graffiti. Same with those electrical boxes that get painted - those are also attractive graffiti targets and the painting is supposed to preempt tagging.
Unfortunately there are a LOT of taggers in Boston who ignore all of these "rules." The Not Art clown has inflicted his stencil on several murals in my neighborhood, and almost immediately after Allston Main Streets sponsored paintings on a dozen or so electrical boxes in the Allston Village area, they became the target of taggers.
There's that mural in Allston
There's that mural in Allston by the uh, Spikes I think that's ALWAYS tagged, everytime they clean it up it's tagged again. These vandal "artists" have no morals at all.
"Government name"
Seriously?
Here on my planet, the government does not give people names; their parents do.
Get off...
... my lawn!
It's an attorney fetish.
He's talking about name provenance while you are describing name function in the places where records are kept.
Planet?
Well, country at least.
I'm having dinner with a young woman relative this evening who isn't named what her parents wanted to name her. Using her mother's birth surname as a middle name isn't allowed in Germany, where she was born, because it isn't on the official list of girl's names.
Go figure.
Tagging anything that is not owned by you is...
vandalism.
Not Art.
"Felony vandalism?"
Does it have to do with the cost of cleanup or the value of the thing damaged? I'll support a jail sentence for this guy as soon as the cop who stole a cruiser and beat up his girlfriend is securely behind bars. Barring that I'll assume the jails are too crowded.
Non sequitur
Fallacious, irrelevant argument. The two are not connected. A different person getting off scot free (assuming your account is truthful and accurate) for a different crime doesn't mean it makes sense to let this individual skate.
Yes it does
