UPDATE, 11 p.m.: Boston Fire Department reports not finding anything, all units leaving.
UPDATE, 8:12 p.m.: Dive team being called in to search the pond.
Witnesses told police and fire responders the woman got in the water around 7:15 p.m., then swam toward the center of the pond. Only problem is while one witness said she walked into the water near the boathouse on the Jamaicaway, others said they saw her enter the pond on the opposite side, off Perkins Street.
As of 8 p.m. searchers were continuing to look for her under spotlights, but found no sign of her.

Naked at JP Pond

I saw two naked women wading in the pond by where the pushup bars are in the area that leads up to where the JP Musicfest was at about 5:00 this afternoon. They kinda seemed like they might have been on E or some kind of drugs, but they didn't seem like they were in any kind of distress so I just minded my own business and kept walking. There were a few older people around there who seemed genuinely offended by the presence of two young naked women who weren't shy about letting everyone know their opinion, and I thought at the time that one of these people was obviously going to call the cops if they hadn't already. I hope everyone is okay.

How JP is it?
And BTW

And BTW, you couldn't pay me enough money to go swimming in that nasty pond, naked or clothed no matter what kind of drugs I was on. I once saw a huge bright white fish that looked like a radioactive koi or goldfish that looked like it was at least 4 or 5 feet long swimming right by the shore of the pond. It seems like somebody drowns in there at least every other summer too. I bet there is some kind of radioactive JP hipster/Toxic Avenger type seamonster entity that lurks at the bottom of the JP pond just waiting for naked hippies to drag down to Davey Jones' locker.

Hello, I'm in the room. Where have you been? Except I'm a vegetarian but hey, who's keeping track.
Seems like your peyote is kicking in, PEWB

Jamaica Pond is pretty darn clean, as urban water features go. Back in the real old days, it used to be a drinking water resevoir. And after Boston outgrew it for that use, it was still a popular place for swimming until the 1970s or so. There's no restrictions or cautions on eating fish taken from it.
People do drown there, but not as often as you claim. Looks like there have been two drownings since 2000 (2007 and 2012). 1975 was a particularly bad year with two drownings - and that's when the powers-that-be cracked down on swimming. But even so, I could only find refs to about a dozen drownings in the entire 20th century. For an unsecured lake in a major urban center, that seems pretty low actually.
Assuming you're not just recounting a halucination, the fish you saw might have been a bass or lake trout (the pond is stocked with trout every year, and 18 inch+ specimens are caught regularly).

Jamaica Pond is spring fed. It used to be the source of much of Boston's ice.
Quite the contrary, peyote

I'm told by Park Rangers it's still considered an emergency back-up drinking water source for the City, thus the restriction of some uses (my dog take a sip, for example).

It's not legal to swim in Jamaica Pond, but the water is very clean, and, often on Summer nights when I'm in the area, I can hear laughing and splashing. from the SW end of the pond.

I am not sure if you believe in ghosts but this is a ghost, several people have died at the pond. I live on pond st and frequent the pond late nights often times and have seen shadowy figures and a woman swimming in the water.

there were 4 or 5 people, and they had a bottle of wine, a picnic blanket, and a portable music player, turned down low but still audible. I'm not thinking that I saw ghosts.

Seriously, more people have been killed on that stretch of roadway. WE don't see anyone demanding the jamaicaway be shut down.

So what happened? There has been no mention of this at all on the news. No updates on NECN or any other news outlet since they said that the search was called off early this morning. Did the search resume today? Did they find a body in the pond? Was it a ghost/witch/shapeshifter/sea nympf/mermaid???
No news worth reporting

I think it's safe to assume, with no reports of anyone missing and some reasonable effort made to ensure no body was lying around in an obvious manner, that the nude swimmer(s) "fled" and are unlikely to come forwards.
