Brookline Town Meeting not in Olympic spirit

" But nobody is going to force the town to host events, hoist banners, or rescind their precious overnight parking bans."

Given that Boston2024 DID put Brooklnie as the host for 2 events, how would you like Brookline to demonstrate that it doesn't want to do that?

As for cash registers, the various brand exclusion zones around events mean that local businesses don't cash in on the tourists as much as you'd expect. Plus, given that tourism doesn't actually increase (it just offsets the people who normally come), the potential positive there is pretty small.

And, of course, with events planned across the street from town in BU, these events would turn North Brookline into a police state.

That sounds like a few (of many) reasons Brookline may be entitled to an opinion...

Seems to me that Boston has been the municipality that is most likely to throw fits and sue other cities and towns over things not in Boston's borders as of late.

I dang near choked on my Diet Dr. Pepper when I read that super-awesome and insightful question. Sadly, I go by the regular pronunciation.

I also go by the following:

1. Nance: rhymes with pants
2. Nanner Bananner: preferred by my five yr old nephew and three yr old niece
3. Jane: because sometimes Mom can't be bothered to figure out which daughter she's addressing

Other things to ponder:

1. If I moved to Nahant, would I be Nahantcy?
2. If I married the golf announcer, would I be Nancy Nantz? What about Nance Nantz?
3. If I moved to France, I could be Nantes Nancy.

The possibilities are endless.
