Architect's rendering, not by Elkus Manfredi.
Artists for Humanity recently submitted detailed plans for its proposed expansion at 100 W. 2 St. in South Boston.
The plans call to use land purchased from Gillette to add some 57,000 square feet of space to the organization's existing 24,000-square foot "EpiCenter" - where teens are matched with design and art jobs at local companies.
Artists for Humanity says the new space would let it double the number of teens it now places in local jobs - currently 250 - add a new "makers studio" and add a cafe and store selling "youth-created art, furniture, and apparel."
Within an expanded facility, Artists For Humanity will be able to increase the annual number of jobs offered to high school youth to work in their creative studios. AFH will also introduce vocational training for out-of-school youth, supported by onsite partners, the construction industry and government job training initiatives. AFH projects that by 2019, they will employ more than 500 youth annually and invest $1.8 million in youth wages and commissions. This increase in youth wages will be offset by a concomitant increase in earned income, as their larger youth workforce meets the growing demand for AFH's creative products and services.

The building does resemble a beehive. Slightly.

Looks better than any of the other new buildings in that area (which was probably not difficult to accomplish).
Where's the parking?

Parking is terrible here because of those that take up spots and jump on the T.
Why does it need parking?

The target audience can't drive.
Why?

Because I want to park my SUV near here and jump on the train at Broadway Station. And you are ignorant if you think none of the people who go here aren't going to drive.Parking around here is terrible because of this place. And the giant Kryptonite bike rack out front is always empty.
Not ignorant

Just familiar with the place. Check after school - the bike rack is in use, and the MBTA is an option.
Explain how many teenagers drive? In the city? And have a car? You do realize that the driving age is 17, right? That insurance for kids is $2000 a year, right? I'm afraid you are the one who doesn't seem to know much about this place. Hint: it has been there a while, most demand for services is after the working day.
Maybe you should explain why a rebuild of an existing building should be expected to provide commuter parking and neighborhood parking that the facility itself won't be using? In other words, if commuter parking is a problem, why not solve that problem?
Bike Rack

The front rack is always empty because everyone prefers to park their bike on the much larger rack in the back that always has tons of bikes on it and is more secure.

I always thought of riding a skateboard after age 21 as one of those things like wearing white after labor day, talking on your cell phone in the movies, letting your toddler play on a war memorial or touch priceless art in a museum. While it may be legal, it is perceived by the masses to be bad form. The Aussies always do things a little bit differently. Just outta curiousity, was the Australian Senator in your pics the singer from Midnight Oil???

I kinda like it - cool looking building.
I guess an appreciation of this architecture is in the eye of the beeholder.
Sorry, dumb pun.
