Man shot in Mattapan; suspect nabbed

Stanley Staco reports somebody was shot around 2 p.m. on Fessenden Street. Not long after, a suspect was arrested three blocks away on Hosmer Street.

Boston Police report arresting Patrick Bishop, 22, after a lengthy foot chase:

A search of the suspect’s backpack enabled officers to locate a firearm.

Bishop was charged with assault with intent to murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition, police say.

Although the homicide unit was initially called in due to the severity of the victim's injuries, he is expected to survive, police say.
