I can see maybe 2 main entrances having state police and security at the locations. However, the the other entrances you only need camera's and ID systems with enforced rules that include firing violators.
Yeah like they're really going to put everyone's ID and SSN in a computer and wait for the results before letting each tourist, politician, Regular Joe, protester, etc. enter the State House.
Did you also notice that he addresses the Governor with a colon and uses very lengthy run on sentences without ever taking a break or stopping to come up for air good grief.
There are many things than can be done using this technology that the State House, the Commonwealth could setup for greater participation. State experts are behind the curve with this medium.
Staties use to be there instead of the rangers, but they werent exactly the friendliest people back then to visitors, (some whom are mothers lol) so they went with rangers.
There used to be a Massachusetts Capitol Police. They were dismantled/rolled into the State Police back in '92 (along with guys likd the MDC Police and the Registry of Motor Vehicles Police).
How about members of the legislature and staff take a safety couse, apply for a LTC, and take responsibility for their own security? Just like the little people they represent. Maybe they'll learn something going through the process and develop an appreciation of the laws they've crafted.
How many civil servants outside of courthouses and top executives of large cities/the governor get protective details at work? What's good for the goose is good for the gander. No special treatment for legislators.
Clerks working at 24hr gas stations and stores have more dangerous jobs and don't get the special treatment the legislature wants taxpayers to fund.
Why shouldn't the State House get security equal to a courthouse? They seem to be roughly equivalent from a necessity of security standpoint albeit different branches of government.
Not sure what a bunch of guys wandering around the statehouse with Target/Hunting limited LTCA's is going to do.....oh wait, those laws only apply to the rest of us, they will probably get unrestricted CC permits because they are clearly in a less safe situation than myself.
There are ways for the Legislature to be made more accessible with the technology/software we're using. If it were easier to communicate with the Legislature sometimes an in person visit might not be needed. Any other examples?... besides microblogging
