Storms blanket region

Violent thunderstorms moved across the Boston region this afternoon and evening, soaking some, giving others vivid lightning displays and rainbows, forcing the delay of a New England Revolution match at Gillette and turning the Natick commuter-rail station into the sort of raging water-filled arroyo you normally only expect to see after freak storms in a western desert:

Yet here in sleepy West Medford not a drop. We heard thunder and I was hoping for rain for the plants and to cool things off but no luck.

I was waiting for the ferry in Ptown on my way back to Boston and took some shots of the storm cell above. *REALLY* didn't wanna stand there on the pier in a thunderstorm but luckily it passed just to the south of Ptown.

(I forgot to tag Adam in these but it's not really Boston, but cape cod)

...towards Provincetown, just as the storms passed to the north. My friends and I got quite a lightshow as we made our way up US 6 between Wellfeet and PTown. My friend who was driving said that he felt bad for people on the ferry, if it was passing through the storm. I agreed.

Last night couldn't have been more different. I took the 8:30 boat home, and despite a minor problem with one of the Salacia's water jets, which resulted in speed reduction for a while (and a slightly late arrival), it was as smooth as glass.

The commuter rail crews spent a lot of time restoring the old legacy drainage system there last year.

I wonder if it helped ?
