I hope she never finds it - in fact, I hope our government makes them all disappear! They are worth more in melt value than in the cost of minting them. Canada got rid of them. Our Military doesn't do them, either!
Hey, we already got rid of the half penny a very long time ago, for similar reasons.

You have real knack taking things that generally I would agree without qualm and presenting in a way makes me somehow not want it.
I perfectly see and agree that pennies should be eliminated. It's continuance costs more than letting it continue. Nobody can use pennies in any meaningful form at this point. It would be best to eliminate pennies, perhaps even the nickle for the general benefit of the people and government.
Meanwhile, I also had a hard time feeling sympathy to a person who lost something like a penny too. Intellectually, there no difference between missing penny and a stuff toy from childhood in the lens of sentimentality, I also have a hard time feeling sympathetic.
Yet, I have no wish to open a message with a line of "I hope she never finds it". There's reason to wish her that as much to wish someone that to any other object of sentimental value. Even viewing it in terms of utility, her having it means it is out of circulation.

I suspect that your literal-minded tone-deafness has gotten in the way of your good sense yet again. I sincerely doubt there is any lost penny here, nor would there be any way to find THIS lost penny. This is performance art, at best and harassment or a scam at worst.

I am a big fan of pennies. Having them around allows prices to go up by less than five cent increments. Getting rid of them will institutionalize inflation at a higher rate.
What is the big problem with pennies? Too heavy for you to carry? Sheesh.
And insofar as costing more to produce than they are worth, I'll compromise. I'm willing to have the government stop making them. We have enough to go around. Should we run low, then we can make more.

How inconvenient is it for people paying cash when the price of an item, after adding taxes, winds up as (say) $7,02 or $5.03. I don't always carry lots of small change with me, and I'm sure the majority of people who still pay with cash do either.
And, with respect, I don't buy (sorry for the pun) the "runaway inflation" argument if we remove a unit of currency that has outlived its usefulness.

My son is a BIG fan of pennies. He prefers them to dimes (shiny pennies) and nickels and quarters (big pennies.)
Yes, he's three, but still, he has upwards of 24 pennies in his collection already.
I bet that if you were from Illinois, your opinion of the humble zinc coin would be a bit different.

Real pennies are mostly copper, not zinc. And real pennies are heavier than real dimes (which is no longer the case). Which is very useful when you're fumbling in your pocket for change (in fact, this is the principal reason different denominations of coins (used to have) have unique size and weight - convenient for most, very important for the visually impaired)
And back when I was your son's age, it didn't take a sackful of pennies to buy even a candy bar. Which is why most people don't routinely recirculate them as part of regular transactions.
