UPDATE: Ayup, we're getting snow from this "significant" storm; seems the only question now is how much.
The National Weather Service says it's still too early to give a good estimate on snowfall totals or whether the whole thing just turns to rain, but they're mentioning the dreaded 40/70 benchmark, inside of which every good nor'easter barges into us, and Channel 4 is talking about heavy, wet snow, so we really had little choice but to raise French Toast Alert to Elevated.

I guess we'll know by Sunday afternoon. But just to be safe, I shoveled the street in front of my house and put a chair out.
Things must have changed considerably since midnight

Or if you were on IRC.. it's "IRC Inches"
You know.. they say 9", when in reality it's gherkin sized. Next time measure from the top, not the bottom.

Hoping it's 24 hours

I rearranged my schedule today so I can hit the supermarket before the hoary hords tomorrow (my original planned shopping day). I'm also hoping this causes the storm to completely fizzle out. You're welcome.

As soon as the anyone on Channel 5 says "Nor'easter" you should panic enough to mentally inventory the items in your pantry. It just escalates from there.

Several recent model runs have take it off the coast. 2-4 inches in March won't stick around more than a few hours. A foot is possible, but a nothingburger is as well.
And I don't trust the models at all this year.
If it comes—a big if, right now—the snow would mainly fall between 6 pm Sunday and noon Monday.

I think a lot of people have stored their snowblowers for the season. Which brings to mind the perfect New England power tool - a combo lawnmower/snowblower so you're ready for anything.

On Tuesday, I took the snow shovels off of my front porch and put them in the basement for Spring. "Ha!", I spat, "I shan't be needing these again!". Little did I know, Nature was watching and is now punishing all of us for my hubris. My bad.

I blame all the school superintendents who failed to look back even 20 years before declaring winter over before the end of March, and scheduled the last day of school based on snow days already used.
That's fighting words for Mothah Naychah.

I moved our side-porch shovel in to the garage last weekend. Those things have to stay visible well into April to ward off the snow. Fortunately I haven't given in to my urges to move the snowblower into a more out-of-the-way corner of the garage.

My husband and I bought each other snowshoes for Christmas and boldly removed them from their boxes. (Those of you so inclined can feel free to blame us for this basically snow-free winter.)
