Guy who isn't a career politician running for register of deeds

Paul Nutting of Dorchester says he's running for Suffolk County Register of Deeds. Other potential candidates including long-time and now former city councilors Steve Murphy and Charles Yancey and long-time candidate Doug Bennett.
Having worked for the State's Mapping Agency, MassGIS (think Google maps), I have over 20 years of computerized land records management experience. Most recently, I was part of a small team that assemble 351 cities' and town's individual assessor record databases into a single interactive online viewer-you can view any parcel across the state and click to get the record. Innovation in providing mapped and textual information has been the focus of my career and I intend to bring the skills that I have developed to the Suffolk County Registry of Deeds.
Whoever wins will succeed Mickey Roache, who retired in December from the job he won after retiring from the city council. The register oversees property transactions in Boston, Chelsea, Revere and Winthrop.

He can start by seeing how things at the registered land recording counter doesn't have to feel like an interrogation whipping post. Ask any title examiner or lawyer or developer about recorded land versus registered land. The minute they find out they have to bring something to the registered land recording counter, they will shutter and start to shake their heads in discouragement!!

Thanks for helping out the older, more "technology challenged" like me. I'm still trying to figure out why twitter and facebook won't let me log on because I already exist. Finally, I got too tired to try to figure it out. I'll try again.

The Xerox portal at masslandrecords.com is painful to use. But I don't think a GIS-centric portal is the right solution either.

How long have they been using "register" instead of the usual "registrar" ?
I don't know, but it has
I don't know, but it has nothing to do with "Registered Land" and "Recorded Land" . Registered Land Indexing Standards are usually more strict as it deals with the Land Court, especially with complicated title. As far as the appointed individual's job title, I believe they call it "Register" now and no longer "Registrar". When did that change? I'll never know. Sorry, now you are probably completely confused.
