J. Nathan Matias watched artillery fired on the Common this evening to welcome what Rob McDougall reports are various governors and other people in town for some sort of confab - more specifically, the New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers.
McAllister Crowley reports hearing six or even very loud booms and then "everyone at Downtown Crossing started running."
I'm not exaggerating when I say DTX was in a state of panic. People were clutching kids sprinting away.

When I was stationed at Fort Knox, we would occasionally get really loud cannon fire sounds in an area where there were no weapons like that nearby. We always jumped at the sound and were a touch shocked, even though we knew it was the sound carrying from far away.
And we lived in an area where this was normal life.

My friend was leaving work in
My friend was leaving work in DTX when a horde of people started running up Washington Street screaming. She got pulled into McDonalds by a stranger and was locked inside for a good 15 minutes. Said at least 1 woman got trampled and was waiting for an ambulance after the panic settled.

Imagine how they'd react to a real natural disaster, civil unrest, war, martial law, etc.
On a side note, going into work around 11AM and going home at 9PM there was a massive number of young under grad college age 'kids', on the trains, especially for some reason young women. Many had a name tag or some such shit. I also noticed a lot of college age young adults of color wearing tags that had Columbia University on them. Anyone know what was going on?
