Teen charged for stolen-SUV crash that injured passenger in Roxbury, shut intersection

A teen from Dorchester was ordered held in lieu of $10,000 bail after allegedly flipping the stolen SUV she was driving on Warren Street at Townsend yesterday, sending another teen to the hospital with critical injuries, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

According to the DA's office, police looking for a Land Rover reported stolen from the area of Harold and Harrishof streets shortly before 2 p.m. spotted the vehicle on Martin Luther King Boulevard and pulled a cruiser into the street to try to box it in. The Land Rover slowed at first, but:

The defendant then drove around the cruiser and failed to stop, prosecutors said. As she passed, officers were able to check the vehicle’s license plate number and confirm that it had been reported stolen.

The suspect vehicle began to accelerate and failed to maneuver a right turn onto Walnut Street, striking the concrete median and flipping onto its left side. It slid on its side into several other vehicles stopped at a traffic light.

In addition to the driver and the critically injured teen, a third teen emerged from the vehicle.

The teen, not named because of her age, was charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, use of a motor vehicle without authority, failure to stop for police and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, the DA's office reports.

She was arrested after she was herself treated at Boston Medical Center for minor injuries, the DA's office says.

I am a lifelong Bostonian. Also long term unemployed. These bad kids see us suffer, they see us never get a chance. Her mother is probly unemployed. Her father in jail doing hard time for a minor crime.
Give her parents a break, better living wages
A land rover. A car we as a black will never own.
Give us jobs that pay the bills. Our kids will change.

Dude, that still doesn't validate stealing a car and going on a police chase. Times are tough for people like us, no doubt, but it's important to convey an education to our children. Stay positive and keep your head up, brotha.

that the accused is black, that they are guilty, that their mother is unemployed, that their father is in prison, and that the reason for all of this is that they are black.

There are bits of truth in what you say about opportunity, but you can't just riff off some particular event with how you imagine it fits your narrative.

Now where do I sign up for my better wages and Land Rover?

Black people will never own a land rover? You're kidding right? You don't think highly of the black community I see. There are lots of black people that own land rovers. There is nothing but dispair and misery in your comment.

Should be Warren.

I'm not even going to touch the foolery upthread.
