Boston Police have identified the two officers shot in an East Boston gun battle yesterday as Matthew Morris (l), who has been on the force for 12 years, and Richard Cintolo, a 27-year veteran of the department.
BPD adds:
Many have asked the question: "What can we do to help your officers?" The answer: "Please give blood."
WBZ reports how a tourniquet - and the training to use it - saved one of the officer's lives.

The weapon used to attack these two good men was a shotgun, not a so-called "assault weapon". The end result is the same regardless of what kind of weapon was used, but the media got ahead of itself with that one. I guess they're all "assault" weapons if you use them to assault somebody.
