January 1, 1889 First electric cars operated from Allston to Park Square, Boston via Coolidge Corner, Beacon Street, Mass. Ave., and Boylston Street. First Carhouse for electric cars and first power station on Braintree Street, Allston.
It is indeed the Braintree Street car barn and power plant. The generating station still exists today, although the front facade has been considerably rebuilt. A newer version of the car barn is still there too.
Thanks for playing folks! This photograph shows the Allston Power House and Car House on Braintree Street in Brighton in 1895. This was the city's first electric car house! You can read more here: http://www.bahistory.org/HistoryStreetcar.html

The view today.
You can see the smokestack in the background of old photos of the Allston Depot, as well.

It's amazing that the car bar is still in use. You'd think something would have replaced it over the last century!

This is the T. They don't replace anything unless it collapaes.

Still remember the very end of the 'old trollies' running from Wilton Street. Lived across the tracks till 1950.
Thanks for playing folks!
