One dead, one injured in Chelsea shootings

WCVB reports one teen is dead, another with a gunshot wound to the foot following a fusillade of bullets at Shurtleff and Bellingham streets around 5:30 p.m.

Police and the Suffolk County District Attorney's office have released a surveillance photo of a car sought in connection with the shootings. It's described as silver or gray, possibly an older model Honda. If you think you've seen it, contact Chelsea Police at 617-466-4880 or State Police at 617-727-8817

Another day on my street.

Yes this happened on my street. About maybe a block or so away from my house. I didn't hear anything, but then again our neighbors dog has been been a non-stop barking streak lately so yeah I probably wouldn't have heard anything.

I did hear the sirens and checked twitter .. sure enough my street. My street has been pretty active since then.. then shortly before 10 the news folks showed up and the choppers. ugh.

This will make the sixth shooting near my house in recent memory. My fav was the drive by at 3am one morning 2 houses down. Supposedly whoever rolled down their window and started to shoot at a house as they drove by. No one injured but it was enough to wake me up out of bed.

I'm gonna guess that this was probably gang related. It's always gang related on my street. It's always directed at someone here. I'm more worried about getting caught in urban crossfire sometimes, as it happened on Shawmut Street behind me a few years ago. A women was just seeing what was going on outside and got shot in the head when a bullet went thru her window. (She died)

Between the barking dog and this kinda stuff, I'm really starting to question why I still live here. Oh yeah I pay virtually next to nothing to live here and it's a 7 and a 1/2 minutes ride to Haymarket. That's why.

Writer's Note: I keep editing this post because I keep remember more and more shootings in recent times. ugh. Sad that I know the difference between a firework and gun fire now.

That was tongue N cheek. You sound like my family... I tell them these stories and I can watch the blood drain from their face in horror.

But I understand your point. My room is in the rear so I'm sure I'd be ok.

Shootings can happen anywhere. Where I lived before was in the SoEnd. A shooting happened a few months ago about 100 yards from my old apartment building. There's just alot of nuts out there.

The thing about Chelsea vs that shooting in the SoEnd is.. Chelsea. It's almost always gang related, and usually directed at someone. Not random. While that seems odd, its safer. The women who was on Shawmut, it wasn't even gang related. Two guys arguing out front of her house at 3am, one pulled a gun on the other. The other blocked it and pushed it up. Of course it was aimed at her window when he did that. *shrug*

It happens. In my home town (a town of 12k people), there was an execution style shooting of four people. More gruesome and was totally random. So as I said.. it can happen anywhere. No one is safe really.

Yet we have some politicians and a NRA who say we need MORE guns. *eye roll* I don't think a packing person would have helped anyone in those situations, and probably would have made it worse. Not trying to start a gun debate, nor will I reply to comments about one.. but "just saying".
