The South End Whole Foods today was stocking up on eggs for the inevitable French Toast onslaught, as Tim W. shows us.

Pshaw
Before the first big 2015 storm here, the Somerville Stop & Shop ran out of tofu.
Everybody, take a deep breath;
slowly exhale. It's not the end of the world.
I'm just preparing myself for the assholes who think because they're driving an SUV or big ass pick up that the natural world outside heir tinted windows doesn't apply to them.
I saw an almost-fistfight in
I saw an almost-fistfight in the Arlington Trader Joe's parking lot last night. It's getting ugly out there.
It's only snow. It melts.
Why does it seem like everyone gets into a tizzy when a snowstorm hits?
In the supermarkets, the day before a storm, everyone acts like it's the end of the world - so I call them 'the end of the world' shoppers. One cashier at Shaws actually enjoyed that joke. :)
I don't get it either
I don't get it either. This is 2017, people. The day after the storm the roads will be (reasonably) clear, the stores will be open for whatever you need to buy, and the world still wags. This isn't the 1800s, it isn't even 1978, and people (and businesses) don't get snowed in for weeks at a time. No need to stock up on milk, eggs and bread if you already have some in the house. I'd also like to know if the people that buy these items because snow is predicted usually buy them anyway, or are they their special "snow provisions"?
Sleeper Storm
Maybe the time change messed people up, but I hit up the grocery store, Home Depot, and a few others this morning on an errand run and they were downright abandoned. Great day to prep!
Local news maybe hasn't picked up yet and beat the story to death. Tomorrow is going to be a French toast armeggedon
This Afternoon
Costco was a Zoo, but the employees there had it down! They were churning people through the checkout faster than they could queue up to get out the door.
Sorry, Swirly.
The designation officially known as 'The Zoo', is reserved, in perpetuity, for the chain most people call 'Market Basket'.
You will have to call Costco something else. :)
Actually, you're both wrong
Zoo is the name of the railroad interlocking connecting the Northeast Corridor with the Harrisburg line in North Philadelphia. Officially, it was named that by the Pennsylvania Railroad because of the location's proximity to the Philadelphia Zoo. Unofficially, the name is very fitting because of the complexity of the track configuration at the location.
With that extra hour of daylight, it will melt soon

the days really didn't get longer
they just shifted the sunrise/sunset later.
well it does get a couple of minutes longer each day....
Documented a food safety issue there
Boxes of eggs sitting out on the supermarket floor, despite several of the boxes clearly marked "KEEP REFRIGERATED" ?
Rotten eggs....
Not really
Only in the US are eggs refrigerated at all.
Also? The boxes are insulated. They can sit in those boxes for some time and still remain quite cold.
You are the one who needs to learn about food safety. Your OCD isn't science.
Please explain
How do they keep refrigerated if they are being actively transferred from a large cooler unit to a refrigerated shelf?
Enquiring minds wanna know!
