Maybe it's time for Boston to install ramps for all the cars on City Hall Plaza

Cars on steps on Boston City Hall Plaza

Chris Wetherson shows us a car that wound up on some of the steps on City Hall Plaza, barely two weeks after somebody else drove his Corolla down the steps to Cambridge Street.

This pic looks like a staged art work. Nice!

Reminds me of the Pink Floyd album cover.

Hilarious headline!

To be honest, the stairs are not clearly marked.

Midsize sedans can't just stop on a dime you know!

I really hope this is sarcastic.

They just should stop letting cars in the plaza altogether?

But then city hall employees and cops would have to walk 50 feet from the T station or the street!

Great idea. Make the cops park their cars, jump on the T to City Hall, get an emergency call jump on the T, get in car, response d to emergency. Your obsession is seriously affecting your thought process. Jackass.

Ignoring that there is a dedicated security force on site, the nearest police station is about a 5 minute WALK to City Hall, so even though I thoroughly dislike agreeing with Kinopio, the use of City Hall Plaza as employee parking is horrible. I mean, there's even a parking garage for City Hall accessible over at Congress Street.

I specified police, not employees. Let the employees walk indeed.

If the cops can't walk 5 minutes or run 3, perhaps they should consider another line of work. And once again, this is ignoring the fact that City Hall has its own security squad that, by its nature, doesn't require any vehicles and the fact that there is a parking garage at City Hall.

Again, if they get an emergency call, do you want them to walk to their car before they can respond? And I'm presuming they're at City Hall on business not leisurly hanging with Marty. If they're just hanging g out, they better be off duty and then yes they can walk

They could stop on Congress with their blue lights running rather than driving through an area where cars are (theoretically) banned.

And again, were they in the station house when the call came in, it would take more time to go to the car, get in, start the car, and drive over to City Hall than it would take to simply walk over. Unless the BPD are physically unfit.

Your nit picking again. We started off with the cops at city hall, remember? Parking in a garage and walking? Not parking on city hall plaza? Ring a bell? Do you just have the need to a) get the last word in, b) feel superior like a certain climatologist or c) just make shit up as you go along or d) ADHD?

My main point, which I keep on repeating and you have yet to counter (assuming you are the same anon) is that the police station is on the other side of the Kennedy Building, a 5 minute walk to City Hall.

If you are so thick that you don't get this, fine. If you want the last word, fine, but don't be a moron about it.

This whole chain started with CARS PARKED ON THE PLAZA! ot the police station, not the parking garage, THE FUCKING PLAZA. Scroll back and read and then look in the mirror at the moron. K? Thx.

Kinopio (a person with whom I routinely disagree since he created a screen name to attack me) noted the different vehicles that park on the plaza, including law enforcement vehicles. You seemed to take exception to his take on police cars parking on said plaza. I defended him, noting, once again, that the police station is very, very close to the plaza (on the other side of the Kennedy Building.) I have also noted that there is a security force assigned to City Hall, so there are already a kind of first responder on site.

So, to be clear, there is absolutely no reason why police cars should be on City Hall Plaza, an area designed for foot traffic. None. And you have yet to explain why there would be a need for them to be there. But please, with the facts laid out above, explain why the cops should be parking by the upper entrance to City Hall in a pedestrian area.

Please.

Kinopio stated in his post employees and cops parking on the plaza. No one mentioned the police station but you. No one mentioned on site security. Cornholios said employee and cop cars on the plaza. I was referring g to employee and cop cars on the plaza. See how staying on topic works? I don't care about your little Mario brothers based argument with cornholio. You're both idiots.

hint- go to 40 New Sudbury Street. If you can't find it, go to the other side of the Kennedy Building from City Hall.

Still waiting for you to explain why police cars need to be on City Hall Plaza. Please. I'm giving you the chance to explain it, then I'll be silent about this.

Why?

Why?

Just explain why.

I never said they need to be there. I responed to cornholio who stated THEY WERE PARKED THERE! SEE! Thats it. I responed to cars he stated wewre parked trhere. Because he makes shit up about cars all the time. That's it. I wasn't trying to do anything except point out how ridiculous his post was. THATS IT! Jeses, get a clue. You brought all the streets, police stations, secutrity forces and all the other bullshit into this convo. Feeling superior now swirly, er, waquiot?

Should not have taken that right turn on Cornhill.

See, this is why you need to update those things periodically, Cornhill St been gone for a while now.

Even the buildings that are part of the Sears Crescent, which had addresses on Cornhill Street for decades after the actual street was gone, have different addresses now, no?

up

New England Veterans Center used Cornhill (similar to Broadway, there's no "Street" after the name, it's just "Cornhill") as its address. There is/was a sign with the address printed above the back door.
Technically, only the left (north) side of Cornhill was razed for City Hall Plaza, which is why it still appears on certain maps.

Punch in those addresses (One City Hall Plaza) and it sends you over to old city hall.

Punch in Cornhill and you get sent to the right place in Google.
