JP burger place going to that great pasture in the sky

Boston Restaurant Talk reports that Grass Fed on Centre Street will be shutting down, with its owner hoping to transfer its current alcohol license to the owner of the burgeoning Chilacates chain. No word on what sort of food the new place will serve; Chilacates already has an outlet on Centre Street, across from JP Licks.

Hahahahhaa. I wouldn't say 'yuck', but I went there and found the burgers dry and not very flavorful, given the whole grass-fed hype....

the whole grass-fed hype

You're eating at the wrong places. If you get out to western Mass, try Local Burger in Northampton, or (in season) their roadside truck, Local Burgy on Route 9 in Williamsburg, one of my all-time favorite summer outdoor dining places. I predict you won't regret it. A classic cheeseburger and fries and shake at Local Burger is a great meal.

Atwood's has a pretty great grass-fed burger.

I really love Chilicates. I also really love Grass Fed. This is sad for Grass Fed :/

And the whole pretending to care about animals while eating meat is so tired. Glad to see that garbage go away.

... go eat grass instead of visiting a burger joint.

Place was usually bustling, and their real burgers were quite tasty (as were the fries).

My guess is that it was the typical exigencies of restauranteering that brought this about - eg, supply issues, high RE costs, staffing challenges, etc.

The failed expansion brought the whole thing down

What do you expect with a name like, "Grass Fed" . Grass fed cows, as in beef, not grass fed plants. I'm curious to see how long Moo Burger stays next to Mildred Haley Apartments (f/k/a Bromley Heath). I hope Forest Hills finds businesses to replace Tonic and Eugene O'Neil's.

Judging by their name "Grass Fed", that's probably why they didn't specialize in outstanding veggie burgers. (You know, grass-fed cows, as in beef, not grass-fed plants.) I'm curious to see how long Moo Burger stays next to Mildred Haley Apartments (f/k/a Bromley Heath). I hope Forest Hills finds businesses to replace Tonic and Eugene O'Neil's. Unfortunately, their current location looks doomed because of the ongoing construction barricade right in front of both commercial spaces.

The article is being updated to reflect that the owner of Chilacates is taking over Grass Fed but keeping it as Grass Fed.

Grass fed was a great concept but not always the best burger and always soggy fries, looking forward to the updates. Being allergic to peppers I have not had the pleasure of trying Chilacates but have brought my nephews there and they love it, hoping they do well at the grass fed spot!
