What a violent culture we live in.
Current theories

My current theories as to motivation.
A space saver was moved.
Kinopio overheard someone talking about how much they loved their new car.
Friendly argument over the best pour over coffee method turned ugly.
EDIT - NONE OF THESE THEORIES ARE REAL. I honestly thought the escalating absurdity of the theories would make that obvious...
Yuck!

This grisly incident alone is sufficient reason to eliminate the business of space-saving here in the Commonwealth.
It was bound to come to this kind of thing sooner or later. Next thing we all know, somebody's going to get killed over a parking space, and then it'll really be too late.
Check for the hook

I'm sorry, where does this story mention anything about this being related to space savers?
I'll tell you what the problem is

People who lack an understanding of sarcasm. Or is it satire? The original comment seems to work on both sides of the sarcasm-satire divide.
True that, but...

This particular case wasn't an argument over space savers, it appears to have been over whether ".gif" is pronounced "gif" or "gif"

It's clearly pronounced tomato.
Man I hate it when people pronounce it tomato. I mean, what are you guys thinking?
They're deadly nightshades either way

Why does the headline contain the phrase “in broad daylight” when the story states the stabbing occurred at 3:30pm? Am I missing something?

No shit the sun is out that

No shit the sun is out that time of day, WHY is it in the story headline? Stop being a little bitch and answer the question.
Why are you here?

You hate pretty much everything I write. Surely there are better ways to spend your time than getting annoyed all the time.
But whatever, bud, the reason I wrote "in broad daylight" is because it's unusual for someone to get stabbed in broad daylight on Centre Street in Jamaica Plain. That makes it noteworthy. Things that are noteworthy are what we in the business call "news." Comprende?
Your lack of awareness of Google in 2018 is disturbing

Here, let me Google the use of the phrase "broad daylight" in Universal Hub headlines for you:
"broad daylight" site:universalhub.com.
You'll notice I've used it often over the years for violence across the city (perhaps often enough that I should cut back, because it's so repetitive), including:
Man shot in broad daylight in Roxbury, 9/19/17.
Note: This is in response to a comment I did not post because it contained gratuitous insults about another UHub commenter.

No sign of anything on Centre

No sign of anything on Centre/Myrtle around 430-5pm as I was headed down Myrtle. Must not have been too bad (no, I am not condoning any type of stabbing).
"Must not have been too bad." - are you serious?

The perpetrator told the victim that he was going to kill him.
If the victim hadn't fought back and made it to his car, he would have needed more than stitches on his arm.
