Go figure: Trucks can storrow at the entrance to the Callahan Tunnel, too

EastieStrong, who just wants to get home, reports both lanes into the Callahan are way backed up due to a tractor-trailer with a driver with good enough reflexes to avoid having his vehicle peeled back like a can of sardines - so chalk this up as a near storrowing.

Is the clearance there?
Callahan Tunnel is now posted at 13'-4"
Clearance was increased from 12'-6" when they did the rehab work a couple of years ago. Oddly enough, the MassDOT Commercial Vehicle webpage still shows the clearance as 12'-6".

I've heard the heights are always 6" taller than the sign says, as a safety margin. Anyone know if that's true?
Per MUTCD guidance, the clearance
stated on the signs is typically 3 inches less than the actual clearance. I am unaware of any locations in the state where a 6 inch "buffer" is used.

Has that changed? I couldn't remember seeing a "no trucks" sign whenever I take the Callahan, so I went to Google Street View, and it's showing a 13'-4" clearance

... When is the corresponding project on the Sumner Tunnel to begin?
The Callahan Tunnel was closed for months during its rehab project, which included replacing the roadway deck inside the tunnel.
At the time, I remember it being said the same rehabilitation was required on the Sumner Tunnel, but for whatever reason they decided to delay the project.
The Sumner Toll Plaza project has already been under construction for two years, with no end in sight. I'm guessing they're waiting until that's completely finished before shutting down the tunnel.
Haven't heard anything about the Sumner Tunnel
rehab in awhile. But I note it's no longer listed on the MassDOT Current Projects listing.
