Man charged with Roxbury armed robbery; was already wearing a GPS device

Boston Police called out the SWAT team to arrest a man they say held somebody up at gunpoint in a Humboldt Avenue apartment building shortly before 7:20 p.m. on Friday.

Police say the suspect, whom they did not name, pointed a gun at a man inside 280 Humboldt Ave. and took his wallet and phone before running away.

Officers were provided with a detailed description of the suspect which included what appeared to be an electronic monitoring device on his right ankle. Responding officers were able to track the suspect to an apartment inside 167 Homestead Street at which time, members of the BPD SWAT Team made contact with the suspect after converging on the address and placed him in custody without incident. While on scene, officers observed property that belonged to the victim in plain view inside the apartment.

He was charged with armed kidnapping, armed robbery and assault by means of a dangerous weapon, police say.
