Transit Police report arresting a homeless man who sometimes lives on a boat in Boston Harbor for sexually attacking a woman on a trolley at Reservoir on Aug. 26.
Police say they were led to the beret-wearing, bearded Tyler Grace by tips that came in after they posted his photo yesterday.
Grace, 36, who lists Winthrop as his home - but who also sometimes lives on his sloop Nika - is listed by the state as a Level 3 sex offender, with three convictions, one for indecent assault and battery, the other two for open and gross lewdness and lascivious behavior, in 2012 and 2013.
In 2011, Brookline Police charged he ejaculated on a woman in the Public Library of Brookline; the following year, while wearing a GPS device as he awaited trial for that incident, he was arrested for masturbating in a Starbucks on School Street in downtown Boston.
Innocent, etc.

What treatment did he receive?
It sounds like he had some kind of mental problem, and, if the new allegations are true, still does have a problem.
Mental problems doesn't excuse criminal assault, but treating it can help protect others in the future.
Treatment

Only works if the person being treated is willing to do what it takes. This person would need to practice behavior modification to stop himself from re-offending. I would wager a bet he was offered treatment during the times he's been incarcerated or as part of probation terms.
I had a friend who, as part of her job as a therapist, had to counsel offenders (state mandated, this was NH). She said most of them have no remorse and only those that do can try to control their impulses. She also said they cannot be cured, but can learn to abstain.
Someone get this guy a new hobby

He's "homeless" and yet he "sometimes lives on his sloop Nika."
He isn't boatless

Not boatless. Perhaps he has problems finding a slip for his sloop?
Definitely seems more than a little unmoored to me.
Isn't it annoying

Isn't it annoying when some anon beats you to a joke, but you don't see that because their comment is in review? I wish those anon comments would show up at the time they were approved, instead of the time they were submitted.
I agree

I saw this on the news last night. Somehow the Transit Police got a fully posed photograph of this guy. I don't know how, but just that they were able to get the photo they did amazed me.
Glad they caught him, if he is the guy.
Facebook?

Except they didn't know who the guy was when they released the photo.

This guy jacked off on someone on the train. People saw it and called the police. Someone else followed him off the train and took a good photo of him at a safe distance. That person sends that photo to the police. The police share the photo, etc, etc.
But it's a GOOD photo

I could care less about "justice reform". He's a repeat offended. He'll do it again. Lock him up.
