What a difference a day makes at the Pedialyte case

A lot less Pedialyte at South Boston drugstore

Eileen Murphy noticed what a run on Pedialyte means at the South Boston Rite Aid, with photos of the display case yesterday and then 24 hours later today.

Either a whole bunch of babies got sick or the walking wounded revelers put a big dent in the pedialyte display.

So... why was the photo on the left taken?

It should answer your question.

and wax wondering the same. So someone has so much time on their hands that they go to Rite Aid twice in two different days. I understand if you don’t post this.

How much time do you think it takes to snap a photo with your phone camera and post it to Twitter? Elaine happened to be in the store New Year's Eve, had obviously heard about Pedialyte's off-label use and took a picture. And then she got the idea to walk over the next day to see if her theory held (which, obviously, it did). Yesterday was a nice day for walking around South Boston - lots of people did it (even us - we went down to Castle Island).

It's Eileen :-) She's one of my twitter friends.

She takes all sorts of photos all over Boston (mostly South Boston), and it can vary greatly on what she posts. Mostly its cityscape shots but she will post stuff like this. Its twitter, lighten up.

Shelves looked the same amount of decimated at the SuperTarget yesterday.

As someone who had to get Pedialyte yesterday for a sick kid who refused to eat and barely drank anything and it seems her daycare friend got it too - I'm mildly perplexed.

Pedialyte has gotten the reputation as a sort of hangover cure, in addition to its more common usage. There's even an adult-version of the stuff now.

Allegedly, the same generalized ingredients can be had in Gatorade,. The objective is to restore depleted electrolytes in the system, but the real need is to replenish water (moisture) content that has been compromised from alcohol.

So I've heard. In case the other drinks gross you out.

Gatorade and 2 Advil before bed.
Gatorade and 2 Advil on the nightstand for when you first wake up.
lay down
Food
Gatorade and 2 Advil
Repeat till you feel better.

Advil on an empty stomach is a recipe for disaster for me!

And add in a 20 mile bike ride or 5 mile run the next day - incinerates all those bad humors.

You're just crazy. I can't even get up off my couch half the time.

(tis also why I rarely drink..)

"But It Works!"

I didn't say that it was fun or comfortable, but incineration of all wayward metabolites does sort of make sense.

Something I learned the hard way on multi-day tours with too much ethanol around.

Like out the toilet?

It's probably because the 31st was the last day to use FSA money.
