Two men angrily flashed weapons at each other as they sped down the Expressway, State Police say
An Avon man who showed a gun to another motorist as they hurtled down the outbound Expressway this morning now faces a variety of charges, State Police say - adding they are still considering whether to charge the other driver, a Boston man, because they say he flashed a knife during the rolling incident.
According to State Police, the two got into it for an unspecified reason around 7:45 a.m. as they drove south just before Neponset Circle. Daniel Bates, 33, driving a Chevy pickup, displayed his steely manhood in the form of a handgun, State Police say. The other driver, not identified because he has not been charged, in turn showed Bates he was packing a weapon of his own - a knife - as he one-handedly drove his Honda CRV.
The operator of the Honda called 911, reported the incident, and remained on the line while giving dispatchers updated locations of both vehicles.
Braintree Police eventually located both operators on Hancock Street in Braintree. Upon further investigation, troopers located and seized a Sig Sauer P320 9mm handgun, which was in Bates’ possession. They also seized a folding knife from the operator of the Honda.
Bates was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace, State Police say. He is scheduled for arraignment in Dorchester Municipal Court.
Innocent, etc.

Serious question for gun (expletives)
What's the point of showing the weapon to a person and then not shooting them?
Good job, pal. Now you:
1) Don't have a gun
2) Have an adversary who now knows that you don't have a gun anymore
3) Have an adversary who has your name
4) Have an adversary who has your license plate
Hope the defense of your ego was worth all of that.
You're assuming he only has one gun
If he has one, my guess is it's more likely than not he has at least one more.
(P.S. For the record, I don't even own one gun.)
Yeah, right
I don't even own a gun, let alone many guns, that would necessitate an entire rack. What am I supposed to do with a gun rack?
You assume this was a lawful
You assume this was a lawful licensed individual and not a criminal that doesn't care about the law and won't have a problem obtaining more weapons as soon as a judge cuts him loose?
Your Implication
Hm, I wonder why this is the only country in which the "the criminal that doesn't care about the law [...] won't have a problem obtaining more weapons"?
Next time, guys...
Try rock, paper, scissors
You know
the theory occasionally voiced around here - that every local driver is a homicidal maniac at heart - gains more and more credibility by the day
Considering
Most homicides in Boston are committed by people on foot, I would say that the claim lacks data to support it.
Shut up , nerd.
Shut up , nerd.
Please don't
If you can't make a cogent argument instead of just launching right into insult mode, maybe find some other way to spend the 30 seconds a comment like that took you.
Pshaw
I kind of thought it was satire. I even upvoted it, and I rarely do that even with posts I like.
Then again, I have a twisted mind sometimes.

Shod foot?
No doubt

Before I read this post, I was 100% certain that the guy showing the gun should be arrested, because I was sure he was the instigator. Then I got to this part...
"Daniel Bates, 33, driving a Chevy pickup, displayed his steely manhood in the form of a handgun, State Police say. The other driver, not identified because he has not been charged, in turn showed Bates he was packing a weapon of his own - a knife - as he one-handedly drove his Honda CRV."
Who on Earth would respond to being shown a gun but pulling out a foldable knife!? HAHAHA what an idiot. Good luck using your knife on the highway from the next lane over, moron. Sounds like he realized his stupidity pretty quickly, and then called the cops to bail him out of having to back up his tough-guy antics.
Arrest them both. Morons.
Never bring a
Knife to a gun drive
beat me to it.
beat me to it.
