Molly Lanza was among the roughly 500 people who marched this afternoon from the Holocaust Memorial to the South Bay jail, where the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department makes money by renting space to ICE for use as a detention facility.

I don't feel like explaining why right now, it's the end of a long day, but I don't need to see lots of photos of a congresswoman who is a rightwing bugaboo used to call another user here a fraud. Have a nice Fourth.
Way to go

I hope YOUR Fourth sucks, Roman. You and dmc are a disgrace to this nation. You came in and now you're trying to slam the door behind you and that's utterly contemptible.
We are cowards - a ship of gassed Jews

learned that horrible lesson.
Our self produced propaganda is always about how great the United States is. But the truth is that we are cowards who refuse to act until the shame or threat is so great that we are broken by the weight of the good of us with a conscience breaking out past our cowardice.
Immigration. How many Jews would have not been MURDERED had the US allowed a ship of Jews to dock here, instead of forcing the people back to ultimately breathe in Zylon B. How many millions of people forced, naked, utterly vulnerable, would not have died, had the US citizenry not turned away from the monster of Europe?
Our leaders knew what was happening. Just as our leaders know today that we are treating human beings as though they are one step aboe rats. Which NAZIs always compared Jews to.
We are not an evil nation. But when Evil is allowed to rule we become a nation that does evil.
I'm sure you understand that by American standards,

billions of people the world over are living in conditions that we wouldn't tolerate in our prisons?
Do you propose we let them all come here?
Do you expect this place won't deteriorate into a third world country if we do?

Roman you seem troubled and for some reason want to be taken seriously here.
"billions of people the world over are living in conditions that we wouldn't tolerate in our prisons?
Do you propose we let them all come here?"
Is the reasoning of a six year old (false dichotomy). People can tolerate and be polite to six year olds but they don't generally learn anything from them.

First your comparison is false. This is not about billions of people.
Second, if the US had the capacity to help every person who suffers then anyone considering themself religious would have to want to help. The point of religion is to understand how to live together, not apart.
Has the US deteriorated to a 3rd world nation?
We are. Slowly but surely. The extreme disparity of wealth is a step toward creating a two class nation. Where there is the wealthy and everyone else. That is part of 3rd world status.
We have allowed our infrastructure to deteriorate, not just in Boston but other US cities to a point where their contribution to our national wealthy is compromised.
Many parts of the nation are or were world status. In the worst days of the South Bronx it was a war zone. Doctor's Without Borders provided medical services to citizens living in the South Bronx in the 70s.
Read Nancy Isenberg's book "White Trash" if you want to learn more about the 3rd world conditions in the US.
Illegal aliens

The Holocaust and ICE have nothing to do with each other. The illegal aliens came here willingly. Or do you want more illegal aliens to drive trucks like Volodymyr Zhukovskyy?
Inconvenient Fact
By Irma la Douce

Zhukovsky is a legal, permanent resident of the US, who only attracted ICE attention after he killed 7 people. If he was “illegal” I’d think Texas law enforcement would’ve been all over his ass when he was arrested there. And no, I don’t want someone like him to be driving, but the reasons have nothing to do with residency or citizenship.
Not an undocumented immigrant

That guy you mentioned isn't an undocumented alien. He is, according to news reports, a lawful permanent resident of the US.

Also, I'd like to leave you with this, from Brené Brown:
Sincerely,
A child of refugees (who happens to be a productive member of society and has never been on public assistance, not that it should matter, but I bet you care).

Is a slippery term.
No one wants to leave their home and most of their family with such urgency unless they are forced to.
Sincerely,
Someone who works with migrants.
Nothing to do with each other?

I dunno Jon. You can point to a lot of things that led to the Holocaust, but certainly one of the most important causes was a country that looked the other way when the state failed to police its agents in accordance with its own constitution. The same is happening now, and the agents are ICE. Applying for asylum is a right. ALL human beings have certain rights in this country regardless of citizenship or immigration status, and those include due process rights.
We need to stop this, Jon. It isn't going to lead to a country you want to live in, unless you're a fascist.
