Man faces gun charges after stop in South Boston; car linked to shooting on Vine Street in Roxbury

Boston Police report arresting a Brockton man after they say officers found him packing a loaded handgun early this morning on Broadway at Dorchester Street in South Boston.

Police say Aaron Powell was stopped shortly after midnight after an officer on patrol recognized his car as one wanted in connection with a shooting Monday afternoon on Vine Street near Mt. Pleasant Avenue in Roxbury that sent one man to the hospital and forced the lockdown of the Vine Street Community Center.

However, at least initially, Powell, 29, was only charged for the "Black High Point, Model C9, 9MM Luger Firearm with 1 round in the chamber and 7 rounds in the magazine" they say officers found on Powell. Specifically, he was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and carrying a loaded firearm on a public way, police say.

Innocent, etc.

I'm amazed that there was a parking space at 429 West Broadway at eight minutes passed midnight.
