Debate notes
On Blue Mass. Group, David liveblogged the debate.
Hub Politics says Patrick failed to shine and that the main act was the sparring between Mihos and Healey.
Timmah: Deval Patrick has got to love Christy Mihos right now.
D Sands: I'll score this debate a tie, despite Healey's poor performance on the Big Dig stuff.
Pinkandgreengirl: Did anyone else find [Mihos] weirdly orange?
Dan Kennedy wonders what genius scheduled the debate for 6 p.m and writes:
... Patrick won because Christy Mihos was kicking the bejesus out of Healey while leaving Patrick pretty much alone ...
Tai Irwin admired Mihos's yap-dog approach:
... Looks small, has a tiny bark, but for the love of God the mini candidate is determined to stay with it. ...
Jay Fitzgerald scores it a good debate overall, adding:
... Ms. Ross looked like a Larouchie, though she wasn't nearly as insufferable as Jill Stein ...
John Daley gives the win to Mihos and Ross:
... Christy Mihos' relentless attack seemed to throw Kerry Healey off her game. And Grace Ross sounded startlingly articulate and reasonable. ...
Carpundit wonders what Ross was doing there:
... How could Fox25 let that Jew-hating sack of crap in the studio, let alone on stage? ...
Jon Keller declares Shonda Shilling the winner and wishes Patrick would stop being so agreeable.

Why no mention of Coca-Cola?
Since Mr. Patrick was being paid a salary of over $3 million for working as a "consultant" for Coca-Cola as recently as 2005, why wasn't the fact brought up that Coca-Cola was named as one of the "Worst Corporations of 2004" by Multinational Monitor magazine (when Mr. Patrick was its general counsel), because of Coca-Cola's record of human rights abuses and environmental destruction in Colombia, India and El Salvador?
Heard some of it on the radio on the way home from work.
What genius scheduled it at 6 PM, when most people are either at work, on the way home from work, or making dinner?
Ha Ha..Jon Keller's take is
Ha Ha..Jon Keller's take is the best one yet.
Ross
Ross follwed Massachusetts's democratic process and got her name on the ballot. It is not up to the media to decide who runs for governor, it is the people. Do I want Ross as my Governor? No. But I do not want the media to filter the debates and decide which candidate's voice I get to hear.
Ross
Agreed. Also, while Ross's party is anti-Zionist and has what I consider an unbalanced view of the Middle East situation, this doesn't make her in any way a "Jew-hater".
Further agreed
Ross is not a Jew-hater, and if one is going to make an accusation like that, one will need to back it up. And statements from others in her party about Israel don't cut it.
I'd also add that if CP were to apply the same principles to the Republican party, I have to doubt htat he'd be donating to Healey. The Republicans are a LOT closer to Pat Robertson than the Green-Rainbow party is to terrorists--or anyone else--in the Middle East
Shocking: Hub Politics claims Healey "Gubernatorial" ... c'mon!
Matt, Aaron. Seriously. Can you not regurgitate the party line for one post and offer up actual analysis for once? Your repetitive, played out style is boring every non-Healey supporter in the state.
“[Healey] was well spoken, and whether you agree or disagree with her positions, no one can claim that she didn't carry herself well, or didn't know her stuff….but she came across as smart, appeared very gubernatorial, and has likely improved her stature.â€
WHAAAAA???? No one can claim she didn’t carry herself well? Four words – “You’re my hero, Christy.†Even the most robotic Healey supporters cringed when that rolled off her tongue.
Yes, I lean left and I'm going to disagree with HP's positions 99% of the time. But I look at other blogs with which I disagree and find the authors' own positions and voices shining through. I don't share mAss Backward's political views and, at times, Carpundit's opinions drive me batshit crazy (btw the Prius is the greatest car ever invented! Take that CP!**), but they have formed opinions for themselves and do not subscribe whole-heartedly to one group's line of thinking. I like those guys because they bring their own POV into the mix and they are occasionally unpredictable and often entertaining.
Hub Politcs, however, reads like a Romney/Healey spin machine. I can go to the Healey website, turn on Hanity, or read Howie Carr if I want regurgitated Republican dogma.
You guys are talented and will obviously find success however you approach the future, but for the love of God, freshen things up. I want a Republican blog that doesn’t make me roll my eyes because I feel like I am reading a Healey press release. Be less predictable. Please do not be mini-Hanitys. Don't be afraid to form opinions for yourself instead of towing the line. One key to your growth will be originality and integrity.
Perhaps add a moderate/centered Republican voice to counter your own voice. I, for one, would visit HP more often if the writers exchanged ideas instead of predictably towing the line.
**Just kidding about the Prius.
"Governorish"
On the other hand, at last night's Blue Mass. Group get-together, Jimmy Tingle described Deval Patrick as "governorish".
Whores Like All the Rest
I always figured the boys at Hub Politics were such suck-ups because they were angling for advertising money from candidates--certainly the decision not to endorse in the Republican primary for the U.S. Senate seemed like a bet hedging move. But the more I read, the more I realize that they aren't even smart enough to prostitute themselves--they're giving it away for free every time they post for Healey. And just think, Healey says she might commit $15 million to the race. That would keep the Margolis brothers in commuter rail passes for years. Too bad every post about Healey is as good as an ad!
