Would you want someone painting your fence if you hadn't asked for it and told them to stop? What if they were painting it an obnoxious color? What if you'd just had it painted this summer and they were defacing it?
Disturbance on Harvard Street: At 4:11 p.m. police received word of two parents arguing on the soccer field after one parent’s child kicked a soccer ball and hit the other child. No medical attention was needed.
I know Brookline already declared its independence from Boston, but I want to make it more official. Could we maybe give them to New Hampshire or something?
I don't usually listen to these guys (really!) but the radio was on 98.5 after the night Patriots game a couple of weeks ago, these guys have a segment called Brookline 911 where they play clips of phone calls to the Brookline Police, e.g. a turkey entered someone's house, dogs barking in a park, other hijinks.
I would imagine that Animal Control knows how to get an angry 25 lb bird out of my house with less damage to the house than DIY. I’d probably give myself 2 or 3 tries with a broom and then if that didn’t go well I would call in an artillery strike from the professionals.
The police log should be in every local newspaper but this one only gives 50% of the story. Is there a reason they don't put the end result or disposition of each call?
Neat, unambiguous disposition and/or resolution in the same entry? How very pre-1981 of you.
This police log operates on much more of a Hill Street Blues model - the turkey and fence painter plot lines will weave their way in and out of several episodes, briefly intersecting once or twice, before being resolved.

I'd say
That's from the anals of the Brookline Police, because whomever made that call is an (expletive).
Why do you say that?

"Painting his fence"
That's an ambiguous pronoun. I would absolutely believe that a Brookliner would call 5-0 on someone painting their own fence.
Antecedent
Yup, the antecedent of "his" - a man - doesn't make this much of a story as written. Pronoun-antecedent agreement is one of my biggest pet peeves...
Umm...
do you mean "annals"?
It says "annals"
In the original post. I played on that.
I bet you did.
Sounds kinky.
Oh
Behave

Well played
There are no Freudian typos.
Abe Simpson wouldn't mind
He was trying to get to Chester the hobo to paint his chicken coop for decades.
Probably should have offered a better payment
Because I heard those corn muffins were lousy. Now, a couple of cheese blintzes on the other hand...
That's a very confusing use

The Brookline Police blotter
is always good for laugh.
From a couple weeks back:

Turkey might be a legit call.

Did he have a mean, mean stride
and/or mean, mean pride?
Old joke
Maybe he was blond.
