Student unleashes pepper spray in Roslindale school cafeteria - 12 students, 1 adult taken to the hospital for observation

A student at the Washington Irving Middle School on Cummins Highway in Roslindale sprayed a canister of pepper spray in the school cafeteria around 11 a.m., a Boston Public Schools spokesperson reports.
Some 12 students and one school staffer were taken to local hospitals as a precaution, BPS reports, adding all have since been released.
The building was evacuated for more than 30 minutes. Students then returned to the building* and remained in the auditorium until fire officials determined it was OK for everyone to return to class. Classes are continuing as scheduled.
The student with the OC "will be disciplined according to the BPS Code of Conduct," the spokesperson says.
In addition to middle-school students, the school this year is housing high-school students from the former West Roxbury Academy and Urban Science Academy, which closed at the end of the past school year. Some of those students had a previously approved early dismissal today, unrelated to the pepper spraying, BPS says.

This did turn out to be intentional, but if you go to places where the local fauna make it wise to carry bear spray while taking out the garbage, many families have stories about when so-and-so was a teen and had a little misadventure.

I've got news for you
When the millennials were in high school, they fought at Forest Hills.
Alas, us Gen-Xers didn't fight at Forest Hills, but I can tell you stories of fights breaking out at Ashmont and Andrew (on the platform, mind you) back in my days. As for the boomers, Forest Hills in their day was not conducive to fighting. For some reason I read that Egleston was a station for that. Weird.

A term that is dismissive and issued as a form of contempt.
Its emergence parallels terms of contempt for various cultures and races.

The changing meanings of words
Forgive my ignorance, but has the word "boomer", once a neutral term to describe a specific generation, morphed into a specifically derogatory term? Is it now to be considered exclusively negative? This seems to keep happening in recent years. I recall when the word "thug" was used to describe, well, THUGS, i.e. "Whitey Bulger type people", you might say. But it seems it has now transformed into a racial slur when I wasn't looking. Apparently words change meaning pretty fast these days.
Hate the term....
But I think it was invented for people like Swirly. An "ok boomber" response to 99% of Swirly's posts would be spot on.

If we sound dismissive and contemptuous of the Boomer generation, it is because we are in fact dismissive and contemptuous of, while not the first generation to fail to fix the world, certainly the first to continue to insist long after the fact that they did.

So possession of pepper spray by a juvenile & spraying it in a school, sending 12 to the hospital, is in no way a police matter? Strictly a BPS discipline matter? I’m not saying throw the book at the kid, but how do you pretend 2 crimes aren’t just that?

That BPS was quoted about its disciplinary rules doesn't mean that police are not free to bring charges (in this case in juvenile court). My apologies for not checking with BPS on this.
