Mindy Kaling stans for My Grandma's of New England coffee cake, made with love (and real vanilla) in a factory at the industrial end of Hyde Park Avenue.
It might seem surprising that a comedian and writer associated with Hollywood and New York would know about something mainly sold in stores in eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island, but she did grow up in Cambridge.
She reports she orders it via on online store that specializes in regional delicacies. Of course, that comes with a price: $30, or about 2 1/2 times what you'd pay at your local Star Market.

Locator map thing works a little oddly, but it is sold all over the country. A good number of places in the LA area, and Detroit, Cleveland, and Chicago all show up.

Thanks. Yeah, if you just zoom out on the initial map, all you see are MA and RI locations, but if you search on, oh, "Los Angeles," you get a number of stores listed.
