Last year the Boston Police command staff backed by the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police and members of the city council proposed legislation outlawing wearing masks in public. Several state laws banning the wearing of masks are probably null and void. These laws actually served a purpose because it allowed the police to arrest members of hate groups like the Klan.

Starting Wednesday, you won't be able to go into a store without wearing one, either. Public-health emergencies are like that.
