Jamaica Plain gets a George Floyd mural, which outrages the neighborhood's angry screamy bicyclist and maybe a Trumpie
Shamus Moynihan spotted this new mural by Alex Golob today on Centre Street in Hyde Square, where Bella Luna used to be.
Max McCardle reports that as Golob was painting today, some guy on a bike stopped and started screaming obscenities at him (ed note: there is a guy on a bike who has been pandemically riding around JP screaming at people who wear masks).
Alexander kept his cool and painted on. The man came back with some even harsher statements and then the coward escaped on his bike again. At that point I knew I had to go back over. Alexander, I want to applaud you in your steadiness. I want to show as many people as I can your work. You stood out there all day painting a beautiful statement. It is truly amazing that you are using your talents to brush a voice, meaning and beauty across these dark times. It is people like you who are helping bring about change. Bravo.
In the Jamaica Plain group on Facebook, somebody posted a report of a guy spitting at the mural repeatedly before slapping a Trump sticker on it. It was gone before the poster could get there, both to remove it and to put some flowers in front of the mural.

Same guy who always rides on
Same guy who always rides on a footpath around Jamaica Pond?
Not 100% sure
But it sure sounds like him.
Be careful everyone. They're VERY angry.
The gilded tangerine facade of the carnival barker is washing away.
His supporter's bubble of smug satisfaction is shrinking as more and more people are being affected (as well as infected) due to the complete ineptitude of a rapidly deteriorating conman.
They've even begun to cut ties with FOX News as it has been deemed "too liberal" and have sought refuge in a new sewer drain of geriatric hallucinations that is OAN.
Spitting and stickers is just the beginning.
We MUST be careful and look out for ourselves and like-minded neighbors. Please be vigilant because we all have at least one "crazy" adherent on our block and as November approaches who knows what Dear Leader will call upon his followers to do.
Dear God, I wish I was kidding.
Sounds like this dude is
Sounds like this dude is confused as to what neighborhood he's in.
Not necessarily
JP has always had one or two people on the edge. This goes back aways, but for awhile they had the guy who got so angry about parking scofflaws he'd patrol the neighborhood at night, defacing cars he felt needed more than just a ticket - like some feces smeared on it. BPD finally caught him by parking a van poorly and putting officers inside.
HaHa, one or two?
Surely, you jest, Adam? I've lived in JP most of my life and I can attest that it is full of colorful kooks of all persuasions.

Angry screamy cyclist
Sounds like someone who slipped through the giant gaping cracks in the mental health system. At least they aren't driving a weapon.
You're like this first thing
You're like this first thing in the morning, too? Geez - have a Snickers... or a liter of citrate of magnesia.
Hmmm
You sound ... triggered.
So you want angry screamy people to be driving? Interesting. I'd personally rather have them cycling, even if they give cyclists a bad name. Considerably less potential for them to turn their impulse control issues into mayhem.
no cyclist "gives cyclists a bad name"
....any more than a random black guy "gives black people a bad name"
Really?
All she was saying was that it's good that someone with rage issues isn't driving a car.
This one
Wasn’t bad after reconciling for bias. They (she?) didn’t lump people on the right in with this loony. (Like the article tries to frame)
Good take swrly!!!
The report was on the mural.
The report was on the mural. The sticker guy got himself into the Venn diagram that links the two incidents.
The post is about a mural
The post is about a mural memorial for a Black man who was killed. Please be respectful and don't hijack this post for an anti-car agenda, thanks.
This is an amazing mural,
This is an amazing mural, kudos to the artist and whoever owns the building.
let's not go crazy here
The owner of the old Bella Luna building still has a long way to go before he is eligible for kudos
This was commissioned
by the owners of the dispensary under construction in the basement. NOT Morty.
Was that basement...
