Jogging while Black on VFW Parkway in West Roxbury

A Black man out for a jog down leafy VFW Parkway in West Roxbury today reports he was stopped by three guys who got out of an SUV and tried to ask him questions and asked for his ID, at least until he took out his phone and began recording them - after they showed him badges that read "ICE" [See video].
Then, Bena Apreala reports, through a posting in the Keep Roslindale Quirky Facebook group, he asked "we're all set, sir?" and all three replied "yeah" and one told him to "enjoy his run," and he began to walk away. But then, one of the men began pointing a walkie-talkie at him and asked, "Do you have any tattoos on your left or right arms to confirm?"
He responded, "Am I free to go?" They didn't answer this time, but he again began to walk away, this time adding, "If I'm free to go then I'm not showing you anything, thank you. Have a great day guys."
Across the parkway, somebody began recording the scene as well.
According to the posting by his partner, the men pulled up, got out and said they wanted to ask him some questions:
He asked them if they were BPD and they said no and showed him their official badges. They said he fit a description of someone they were investigating and asked for his name and ID.
She added:
When Ben learned they were ICE he said “I’m not who you’re looking for I was born and raised in Boston” and they replied “that’s not all we do”. They were mostly civil except at first he said he wasn’t giving them any info and if he was free to go and they said no until they can confirm his identity. Once he told him his name and where he lived they were more civil.

Humor me as I take you down this rabbit hole. I promise to come full circle and correlate what ICE did in Boston to our current social climate and how the change has to come from all of us citizens of this great nation.
Four years ago Trump‘s platform was to ”Make America Great Again.” The means by which he would achieve this were: building a wall to keep “criminals and rapists” out and deporting illegal immigrants.
He blames most of what is bad or wrong in the United States on the Immigrant social group, Hispanic subgroup and Mexicans, the tertiary group. He correlates the sheer existence of the immigrant social group and it’s subgroups to high crime rates, unemployment, low wages and lack of funding in federally funded social service (because they are ALL on welfare). By making this correlation he has convinced his base, the disenfranchised lower social classes, to believe they can abolish all which afflicts them by eradicating the country of the immigrant social group and it’s subgroups.
“My way or the highway…back to TJ”. (Is it too late to submit this catch phrase to his head of merch)
In addition, the current social climate of police brutality primarily towards POC, which was as present during Jim Crow as it is now. The only difference is, the cameras we all have in our hands 24/7 are capturing the inhumane treatment towards POC social group at the hands of the People IN Power social group

Black lives matter vs All lives matter vs Blue lives matter and voilà the Immigrant social group now shares the UNDESIRABLES classification with the People of Color social group.
Recent events in the United States are eerily parallel to those which unfolded a century ago.
100 years ago a narcissistic, sadistic, self absorbed politician with illusions of grandeur running for his countries highest office rallied his base, the disenfranchised lower classes, to elect him, based on a campaign platform that attributed all that was wrong in their society to a specific social group. Said politician was elected and he hit the ground running,, fully intent to keep his campaign promise of eradicating the country of their UNDESIRABLE social group.
The year was 1933, the country was Germany. The social group were Jews and the politician elected to the office of Chancellor denounced attempts or oust him as leader by appointing himself dictator.
His name was Adolf Hitler his tactic was deportation of the masses and the method was GENOCIDE.

but I'm sure there's probably tons of easily obtainable examples of human traffickers being stopped by grabbing and interrogating random people running by on the VFW Parkway. I bet it's a really common technique that works all the time so there's no reason why we should be worried about behavior like this!
And beyond that, I'm sure ICE is doing a great job at training their agents not to racially profile people, that's why this is the only example of that ever happening and it's not something to worry about or any reason to talk about reform or improvement. Nothing to see here, move along.

ICE handles drug & human trafficking?
I didn't know that. It doesn't make sense to me, wouldn't other law enforcement agencies handle those crimes, once the people in question are away from the border? If ICE are just questioning random Black guys out for a run in West Roxbury, they aren't doing a very good job of it.

This is my third decade living near the parkway. It's a road I've driven and jog along side thousands of times. I have never been stopped jogging, not once.

A relative in California sent me a video of two guys getting out of an Uber and harassing someone until a large group holding an arts event came over, demanded ID and warrants, and surrounded the person being harassed. Then ICE did show up because the vigilantes decided to harass further with murder by illegal raid. ICE did not have warrants (of course) and so they were forced to leave when the city police showed up.
What I don't get is why they are harassing black people if immigration is their concern. Of course we all know that it isn't about immigration and is weaponized bigotry and terrorism.

I also get a strong vibe of 2nd amendment NH types with absolutely nothing better to do, playing dress-up and testing the waters to see how much they can get away with before election day.. they act a lot like the "border militia" down south who also enjoy pretending to be government agents.
If they were ICE, not only would their little tactical outfits look more similar than they do, they would also probably have the word "ICE" on them somewhere; and if they were "undercover", they wouldn't have been nonchalantly openly questioning random passers-by while wearing tactical gear.
ICE agents are thugs, but they should be capable of performing a stop (these guys aren't), and this doesn't match with how they usually operate.

I'm sure the last thing on his mind during something like that is holding his phone sideways (you really have to think to do that). Also, while UHub is hardly at the forefront of anything, even here, I've noticed that most visitors are now coming in via phones (specifically phones, not tablets) and most people tend to look at their phones vertically, so as much as I love that old friends-don't-let-friends-do-vertical-video video, I have to accept that reality.

ICE is already legally capable of executing police powers within 100 miles of an international border. This doesn't stop them from acting outside the law by acting outside their jurisdiction.
As Trump politicizes every Federal agency that affects his ability to "rule" he, early on, politicized ICE. It now is his open secret police charged with harassing anyone deemed worth of their attention.
Given that Trump's supporters believe in domestic terror, violence, bigotry, harassment, etc. there is no surprise that Trump bigots would pretend to be ICE agents so that they can enjoy the sadistic pleasure of harassing a black man.

In case anyone's not aware, the international border nearest to W. Roxbury isn't Canada, it's the MA coast. So, way less than 100 miles.

And one of them simply changed their name. The same people weren't just fired on that magical date in March of 2003.
