Car flies off I-93 at the Zakim, lands on Leverett ramp, driver survives

State Police report that sometime before 6:20 p.m., a driver flew off I-93 southbound at the Leverett ramp, landing on the ramp rather than continuing to plunge down to the ground or water. The driver was taken to the hospital "conscious and alert," State Police say. NECN reports the driver, a 19-year-old from Lynn, was standing next to his car when troopers arrived.

Or do the ramps around the Zakim all feel like they are still just temporary structures while the bridge and the Big Dig are completed. I wish they would just surface all the roads there. I have a degree of fear of heights and elevated highway ramps are a big trigger.

Southbound on 93, hurtling down into the Tunnel
being tailgated by an over-loaded trailer truck from Maine, is my favorite driving experience. Well, maybe a crazy Quebecois jacked up on crank, carrying a load of OSB, could be better. It's a tossup. In either case it's always reassuring to know that our roads were constructed by impeccably honest contractors, and now they are maintained by MassDOT, and vigilantly patrolled by MSP.

If someone in front of you is moving slowly, they are not "asking for tailgaiting".
That's ridiculous. Have you ever been taught to pass safely? Tailgaiging is a dumb idea - you fade back to pass so you can get better sight lines.
Besides, the person driving the vehicle in front of you IS NOT DRIVING YOUR CAR. You are driving your car. You are responsible for NOT tailgaiting. You are not entilted to harass others because you think that they drive too slow.
Ditto for when that person is simply not speeding.

A couple of things:
a. "run out of patience", well, then. Maybe you shouldn't drive in the city or on busy highways.
b. "There's no good reason not to move out of my way." Really? Maybe they don't want to deal with all the off and on-ramp traffic and are doing their thru-traffic thing by staying in that lane. There is nothing stopping you from moving over and passing on the right.
c. "And they’re not entitled to harass me." Well, there's your problem right there: it's not about you and you need to stop being so GD selfish. Did you ever think they're just driving and not thinking about your feelings?

yes, except that car appears to have been in a spot where it would have been going straight or slightly curved to the right (if it was coming in from the ramp from the Tobin Bridge). Momentum wouldn't create a sharper turn to the right. Hitting something and/or a sharp swerve must have been involved.

Not for Storrow, though. If I'm looking at the video correctly (watching the only vertical-moving headlight blob), they were already past the Storrow exit and the onramp from the Tobin, and were approaching the Zakim itself. They didn't fall on the Leverett ramp - they fell to one of the ramps to/from Tobin.
For me, the interesting question is...
...what did he intend to do?

It's pretty disgusting how so many people don't care if they endanger other people, as well as themselves.

There are people who do drive safely in Boston, in fact, there are people who have never had an accident or gotten a ticket. I know, I'm one of them.

But I still want the dangerous jackoffs off of the roadways, and much stricter penalties for mayhem/killing people.
I'm sick of subsidizing their insurance, and being at risk of their hazardous operation of motorized killing machines.
Driving is a privilege. Some need that privilege to be revoked.
