Summer's coming

An ice-cream truck pulled into the upper parking lot at Millennium Park in West Roxbury today. The driver sold a few cones from his truck, still bereft of any stickers, then drove off.

Ice cream truck "music" is
Ice cream truck "music" is horrible.
I don't agree with most laws, but I think it's great that NYC banned music while an ice cream truck is parked. It was one of the most common noise complaints when a truck parked outside someone's window and blasted that noise pollution all day. Trucks are still welcome to ring a bell.
Coffee truck
I will again repeat my call for a coffee truck, like you see at construction sites, to come up there on Saturday mornings during soccer season.
Especially when it's cold and damp
Oh, how I would have loved one of those back when I had a kid in BAYS!
Never been so cold
As when my kids played soccer. It’s always colder on the sidelines than you expect it’s going to be, even when you take into account that it’s always colder than you expect it’s going to be. My friend, one of the other kid’s parents, had a huge fluffy sheepdog that I managed to convince to sit in my lap a few times. That helped a bit.
Fun fact
Millenium Park is actually the windiest place in New England, not Mt. Washington.
Cold for the players, too
I remember one very raw wet day when I was coaching. 40s and drizzle and wind. I brought several camp chairs and two tarps and made a nice little shelter for my players. I laid out the tarp, put a couple chairs on top, and then flipped and tucked the tarp over the top to make a nice dry hovel they could see out of like a dugtout.
I brought a second tarp and a couple more chairs for the opposing team so there would be no hypothermia and no complaints.
