There seem to be a lot of daytime shootings in Boston this year.

Is this the normal amount of daytime shootings? Are there more daytime shootings this year? Or do I perceive that there are more daytime shootings this year because I am paying closer attention (ie I have more bandwidth for local news in 2021)?

Where's the acting mayor, acting police commissioner, city council, anybody . . . ?

The police don't prevent harm from happening so there's not much the commissioner can do. Community orgs, street workers and residents with ties to the community are the best bet to slow the violence down and prevent harm. They actually know some of the human beings involved and have relationships with them. It's unlikely that the city council does or that the mayor does, thought they might. However, going forward, the council and the mayor could organize the city budget to invest in things that have been proven to prevent harm.

This is so sad. Too many guns out there. I fear it’s going to be a long summer in Boston.

The stats in 2021 are showing shooters ranging from 13 years old to 40 years old.... enough said. Now is the time to interrupt a generation before it cycles again.
