Hyde Park man on probation for human trafficking arrested for human trafficking, police say

Boston Police report arresting two people Friday on human-trafficking charges - one of whom is still on probation after being released from prison for kidnapping, trafficking persons for sexual servitude and deriving support from prostitution.

Marquis Campbell, 29, of Hyde Park, was arrested around 11:25 p.m. at the Forest Hills T station on a warrant out of Boston Municipal Court on a charge of human trafficking.

Campbell was arrested in 2014 with another man after a traffic stop in which a woman in the back seat pleaded with police for help. The state Attorney General's office described what led to their indictments in that case:

The AG’s investigation revealed that Campbell and Diaz picked up a woman days before the arrest and coerced her into providing sexual services for a fee in hotels in several Massachusetts communities, namely Saugus and Danvers, over a three-day period.

Campbell and Diaz took photos of the woman and subsequently used them to post advertisements offering sexual services on websites known to advertise prostitution. They transported the victim to hotels and to outcalls, coerced her to engage in sexual acts with multiple men, monitored the money being earned, and ultimately collected all of the proceeds.

Campbell pleaded guilty in 2016 and was sentenced to five to seven years in prison, followed by four years of probation. Online state records do not show when he was released from prison; he would have been given credit for time served before his guilty plea and sentencing.

Also arrested Friday, at the Hampton Inn at Mass and Cass: Kayleigh Santos, 32, of Providence, RI. Police say Santos was wanted on a warrant issued in East Boston Municipal Court on charges ofhHuman trafficking and deriving support from prostitution.
