Jamaica Plain to get another chain outlet, but it's bubble tea

Jamaica Plain News reports that Happy Lemon, a large bubble-tea chain with an outlet at the Corner Mall downtown, hopes to open on Washington Street in JP. There's a Zoomed public meeting about the proposal at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

Not to be one of THOSE people, but this is being proposed for Montebello and Washington Streets. Odd location.

And Video Underground (which is soooo JP) has been there was years, sells coffee, tea, baked goods but for so long had stellar vintage film screenings and rentals back in the day.

"The company tries to place stores in high traffic flow areas, which is why they're looking to open at 3193 Washington St., at the corner of Montebello Road."

I don't like that this would be right next to The VU (Video Underground), a uniquely JP establishment that sells beverages, bakee goods, and offers vintage films

Why is a community meeting even needed for a business to open? This is a rhetorical question.
