Boston murders in 2021: The victims

Boston murder victims in 2021

By the stats, Boston looks pretty good this year: Unlike many other large cities, Boston has had less violent crime than the year before. Aggravated asaults and rapes are down from last year. And murders have decreased from 53 to 40, as of Dec. 26. But that's small comfort to the family and friends of the people who were gunned down or stabbed to death this year. Here is the annual roll call of murder victims in Boston. Click on a name to see more details, including any follow-up news. You can also see 2021 Boston murders on a map (and sort by neighborhood).

My prayers go out to all the victims families. My thanks go out to the magnificent doctors nurses and EMT's who saved the lives of countless others from entering the vortex of violence otherwise the homicide rate in the city would have been closer to one hundred.

Odd you left out BPD cops who are first on scene to every shooting in the city that occurs(scene safety and all) ...I get it if you don't like cops etc etc but let's be real TQ placements and life saving measures done by police MINUTES before Boston EMS arrives has helped save many lives this year, respectfully.

You completely missed the point of this

I think any amount of murder is never any good and kind of a tone deaf way to start off this post.

Adam is providing some statistical analysis and a comparison is violent crime in Boston v major cities. He’s one of the only media outlets who reports on the victims of these crimes.

Granted, I'm is a pissy mood; however, this is Adam's site. You really do not need to read and you especially do not need to comment with your "tone deaf" crap. Adam is very empathetic and to boot I do not find it "tone deaf" in the least.
All that being said I hope 2022 is good to you and yours and you stop commenting just to comment.

At least 80 percent. Gangs remain a scourge - imagine if we threw more resources at this problem from multiple angles? Support to encourage multiple parent families, programming snd job options for youth, and vigorous enforcement by police.

Gangs are a huge problem in communities of color in Boston, with no simple solution. Don’t we owe it to the other 80% of citizens in these communities to address these problems so they can live in relative safety?

It's unfortunate that the word 'murder' doesn't distinguish between innocent bystanders who were minding their own business, people who lost their cool in a conflict, and people who made risky life choices and lost.

You have no empathy or sympathy whatsoever.

Neighborhood! You are right at least 80percent are gang related. I always say it's a good neighborhood with some bad people. The police do a great job they work hard over here. Some things will never change. I've seen several shootings and I still feel safe and. I have great neighbors and many people I stop and say hello when I walk it's the friendliest neighborhood I've ever lived in. Happy new year

Why would you say you live in Hblock? That is not what the name of the street is. You are part of the problem. That is the gangs term they use for holworthy, humboult, etccc. When you meet someone do you say hey, I live in Hblock? You basically are claiming the gang just like young dudes out there. Parents are part of the problem

Would love to see it.

Meanwhile 26 of the 40 murders were committed with guns. Guns make 20,000 murders and 24,000 suicides annually in the U.S. far easier, all thanks to a 250 year old passage about a “well-regulated militia.” So you work on gangs, I’ll work on guns.
