So a guy walks into a Southie bar with a gun - and promptly gets arrested

Boston Police report officers responding to a report of a man with a gun at the Playwright, 658 East Broadway, early this morning found the man - and his gun and the nine bullets he had in a magazine - and arrested him.

Police report what happened around 12:30 a.m.

Officers were advised by staff at the above location that there was a male, later identified as Wilson, seated at the bar with a firearm visible. Upon arrival, Wilson approached Officers with his hands raised, and Officers immediately observed the handle of a firearm protruding from his waist area.

Officers secured the firearm and Wilson without incident.

The firearm was determined to be an unloaded Smith and Wesson M&P Shield. Also located on Wilson was a magazine containing nine rounds of 9MM ammunition.

He was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition, police say.

Innocent, etc.

Michael Wilson, 24, of Hamilton traveled a long way to make himself feel important. I hope it was worth it.

What was the movie (20, 30 years ago) where the two hapless crooks decide to stick up a bar - turns out to be a cop bar and they've got 20 guns pointed at them before they can finish "This is a sti..."?

If not quite as dramatic as that, was the North End white supremacist who split his time between printing counterfeit $20 bills and building a bomb to blow up the Holocaust Memorial and who got caught because he tried to use one of the fake bills to buy an iced coffee at an East Boston Dunkin' Donuts and the counter person called him on it and he started arguing - which got the attention of the off-duty Boston cop standing in line behind him.

Average household income:

Hamilton: $143,832
South Boston: $166,963

Median Household income:

Hamilton: $127,813
South Boston: $109,149

So everybody in Hamilton is moderately fancy, whereas South Boston has both peasantry and gentry.

I couldn't find the proportion of aspiring gunslingers in either. Statistics are woefully lacking. Was it a fancy gun?

Hand guns are made for killin'
They ain't no good for nothin' else.
And if you like to drink your whiskey
You might even shoot yourself.
So why don't we dump 'em people
To the bottom of the sea
Before some ol' fool come around here
Wanna shoot either you or me.

angry little suburban boy with failed dreams finally got the attention he wanted.

For a fleeting moment, people we're scared of him. In his mind he had power and control. For HE was a man.

Then the pathetic goofball gets arrested.

Have fun with that felony charge, dummy.
