One worker dead, one injured in latest Boston construction mishap

WBUR reports a worker died in a construction incident at 65 Northern Ave. in the Seaport around 6:30 this morning.

The Massachusetts Coalition for Occupational Safety and Health reports the man died during "the unloading of street curbing material when the heavy blocks became loose and crushed him."

How many contractors are goiing to get their workers killed on Boston job sites this year?

That is what I said.

I'm waiting for OSHA to start auditing training records and staffing records and other indicators of sloppy practices.

Anyone in the trade have any insights as to why? Too rushed? Too many new guys and gals? Cutting corners for budget?

God Rest His Soul.

When I see "construction mishap" I think of a delivery falling off the back of truck and blocking a road. I do not think of a worker being crushed by heavy blocks of stone.

What a shame. Totally avoidable
