Suspicious package explodes at Northeastern, one injured, more packages found
Update: It was all a hoax, feds charge.
Live Boston reports one person suffered minor injuries - but serious enough for transport to a local hospital - in an explosion on the third floor of Holmes Hall, 39 Leon St., shortly after 7 p.m.
A second suspicious package was found there. State Police also found something behind the MFA on Forsyth Way.
According to an alert sent to students by Northeastern, "a package delivered to Holmes Hall detonated when a staff member opened it."
Leon Street was shut and Northeastern students were told to avoid the area. Classes in nearby buildings were canceled, but the school told students that the campus will be open and operating normally on Wednesday.
