Rachael Rollins to resign as federal prosecutor this week

Associated Press reports it's because of her appearance at a political fundraiser, and possibly other issues.

Rollins resigned as Suffolk County DA after she was appointed US Attorney for Massachusetts.

What was this fundraiser?

the inspector general’s office had opened an investigation into Rollins over her appearance last year at a Democratic National Committee fundraiser featuring first lady Jill Biden

What’s wrong with that?

she was fighting to keep the Teixeira case. The National Security Division probably didn't like that.

Should never have gotten the job after the South Bay incident.

There is video proof that the complainer was reckless speeding opposite of marked lane direction. How dare a brown person tell her to stop it.

The only credible reporting of video footage is discussed in this story:

All it says is that the video footage doesn't conclusively show that she ran a red light.

Lawson is the complainer. She is shown going the wrong way. You are right that Rollins did not run a red light.

You said:

"There is video proof that the complainer was reckless speeding opposite of marked lane direction."

Where's the video proof, or even reporting of such video proof?

You already have it.

"Possibly"

or ethical transgression, no matter how gross, self-dealing or hypocritical. It's only Democrats that have to obey the laws of God and man. Something about still having a shred of decency and the ability to feel shame.

Threatening ordinary citizens while driving a government-owned vehicle?

Rapey McFascist, I don't think you want to play the whattabout game on its behalf.

And as both a lawyer and prosecutor, she should know better.

I haven't seen any corruption. I have seen Rollins held to a much higher standard than white men in the same position.

Look again. It’s not good

So far my comment is accurate.

that you’ve now alluded to this incident three times should tell you something

Ordinary citizens that drive recklessly get tickets, which was the extent of this so called "threat".

There's a special circle of hell for Tom Cotton.

Tom Cotton on Ketanji Brown Jackson

You know, the last Judge Jackson left the Supreme Court to go to Nuremberg to prosecute the case against the Nazis. This Judge Jackson might have gone there to defend them

https://www.peoplesworld.org/article/arkansas-sen-tom-cotton-proves-his-...

Tom Cotton cut off and bullied Kristen Clarke, nominated for chief of DOJ civil rights division, for thinking that cops who kill Black men should be prosecuted:

https://www.c-span.org/video/?510825-1/justice-department-assistant-atto... (time 1:44)

Tom Cotton deliberately blocked the nomination hearing for Cassandra Butts to be ambassador to the Bahamas.

She died waiting for her approval, 835 days after Obama nominated her.

All Cassandra wanted to do was serve her country,” Valerie Jarrett, an aide to Obama, told New York Times columnist Frank Bruni.

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) reportedly put a hold on Butts’s confirmation along with that of two other nominees in retaliation for a Secret Service leak regarding a GOP congressman.

Cotton later relented on the hold with the two other nominees. But Bruni said Butts told him that Cotton was purposely holding up her confirmation process in order to anger the president.

Tom Cotton loves to bully women, especially Black and Brown women. He harassed Anita Gupta. He was behind the endless and pointless Benghazi hearings. And this is just scratching the surface.

I'm not even slightly surprised that he wants to paint Rachel Rollins as a criminal for using a state car to go to Jill Biden's speech.

That tracks. Cotton is a pig.

There’s an interesting phrasing for the event.

Cotton might be a pig, but Rollins isn’t blameless for this mess.

What she was offered in order to go away quietly.

Remember all of those people who voted against her confirmation? Turns out they were right.

up

No.

Rollins did her job just like almost all of her predecessors did. If she didn’t have those spasms where she thought she was above the law, she would have served out her term then moved on to obscurity like the rest of them.

The criticism seems mostly that she should have been quieter and more deferential.

But driving to a fundraiser in an official car is the one that did her in.

But as a federal prosecutor, she didn't do a bad job. Same as Lelling, more or less.

I just found out that today. It says that she leaked to reporters that her office would investigate him. That would be wrong. I mean that you could investigate how the press got uncharged allegations on Arroyo, but she should have been recused any investigation of Hayden.

Let me just lead by saying: If Ms. Rollins behaved unethically, she should absolutely resign.

But...the reported charges seem mild compared to the behavior of the right. How many countless Hatch act violations did the Trump administration commit without consequence? How many acts of bribery...sorry "emoluments" did the Trump administration accept? How much dirty money has Justice Thomas and Justice Gorsuch just been shown to secretly accept? Why is there no consequence or outrage on the right for this sort of behavior?

It seems we have a huge problem in this country where one side at least wants to appear to play by the rules and the other side just ignores the rules and no one holds them to account in a meaningful way.

The chances are right about 100% that she's going to be offered a cushy job at a white-shoe law firm or on K Street.

Not being able to serve in a high-ranking position in the federal government where she impacts countless lives is a pretty significant "consequence" to me. Not to mention, this likely harms her chances of a political career.

You know, the "consequence" that anyone regardless of party affiliation who violates the public trust should face, at minimum.

It ages like a sack of shit left in the hot sun. Wanna try again?

For a US Attorney to use non-public Department of Justice information and the resources of her department to create a smear against your disfavored candidate while providing campaign advise to your preferred replacement is a threat to our democracy.

She is likely to be disbarred, unless that is what she negotiated to keep in order to walk away quietly.

worse than originally reported, turtle. Doesn't change anything else I said.

She leaked private, critical information about Hayden to the Herold during that election with the goal of tanking him and getting Arroyo elected. And lied about it too.

That's much, much worse then the Jill Biden thing and absolutely resignation worthy. It's the sort of action that makes me embarrassed to have supported her in the past.

From the Globe article:

At a critical stage of the primary race, the evidence showed, Rollins “brought her efforts to advance Arroyo’s candidacy to the MA USAO, when she used her position as U.S. Attorney, and information available to her as U.S. Attorney, in an ultimately unsuccessful effort to create the impression publicly, before the primary election, that DOJ was or would be investigating Hayden for public corruption.”

She also allegedly lied under oath when questioned about the matter, the report stated.
