Citizen complaint of the day: Blinding light of Old Colony Avenue
By adamg on Sat, 07/22/2023 - 11:15am
A vexed citizen filed a 311 complaint about the blinding light that Rotary Liquors, at the rotary in South Boston, has added that would make a good topic for a song by the Weeknd or Manfred Mann and the Earth Band, depending on the citizen's age.
Light added on the side of rotary liquors is still shining brightly into homes until after 11PM. It is interfering with sleep. Extremely bright. We have asked them to turn it downward and it has not improved and is on late into the evening
The above photo is with the shades up. Here's the view with the shades pulled:

Yes, I know Manfred Mann was just covering Springsteen
But their version is way better known, at least by non Springsteen superfans.
I was about to call you out on that
Me, I'm old enough that "Manfred Mann" evokes "Quinn the Eskimo" before I remember their over-the-top Springsteen cover.
Come all without, come all within
Come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the Mighty Quinn
Quinn the Eskimo
is a Dylan cover.

O Blinding Light
O light that blinds

Seems like our fellow citizen
Has been revved up by a douche (i.e. whoever installed that light).
Dark sky
Massachusetts and the city would benefit from dark sky laws, to keep lights from shining up.
If the city turns a blind eye
If the city turns a blind eye to fireworks I don't see how they respond to this.
