Just a little nibble of the sun

Even aside from the fact we were not in prime viewing territory for today's eclipse, it was kind of cloudy/hazy today, but Matt Frank was still able to get some shots with special darkening filters near Chelsea City Hall.

Sunspots!
Check out those sunspots!!
I had so many layers in place
I had so many layers in place I couldn't guarantee if those are sunspots or specs of dust... Lol... So I left them because they seemed to match up with other images I've seen of the sun lately. I had multiple filter plates lined up and that's really zooming in there so it's probably 80 percent chance of sun spots 20 percent chance some dust got in there despite my best attempts!
Better than spaghetti strainer
Wonderful photos!! And so happy to see these, to find out how much of an eclipse we had, because the pinhole viewer or spaghetti strainer approach didn't work today.
Yeah the filtering of the sun
Yeah the filtering of the sun by the haze and clouds ruined all the strainer and cereal box tricls sadly.
It also blurred out my shots right before we hit peak... The eclipse dug in a little more after my shots and also rotated under the sun before rolling out of to the left. I was able to see it but after right before peak it just got blurry no matter what I did and if I went "darker" I couldn't see the sun anymore.
Thank you!
Many thanks for posting these!
