Citizen complaint of the day: Insurrectionist trash needs to be removed

DT 24 graffiti on Central Avenue, Mattapan Lower Mills

A disgusted citizen filed a 311 complaint today about this graffiti that keeps appearing, in this case on Central Avenue in Mattapan Lower Mills:

Whatever this means, it keeps popping up on buildings in lower mills. If it means what I think it does (a reference to an insurrectionist running for office) it needs to go asap.

This is all around Morrisey Blvd, Neponset Bridge area. Some stickers are stuck up in Dorchester and South Boston. It started around 2020 with the stickers on light poles, where almost every pole on the Neponset bridge had a sticker. It has escalated to spray paint in the past few months.

Especially on the MBTA walls between Savin Hill to JFK station.

with a can of spray paint later?

Well, all graffiti should be removed, including this one.

It's illegal graffiti on private property, it has no right to be there. However, you are correct that the attitude of the complainant appears anti-First Amendment to my eyes. Now, if someone should choose to place a legitimate campaign sign for said candidate on their own property they have every right to do so and should not fear reprisal or having it yanked down. Nor should there be calls from busybodies to 311 requesting removal because they don't agree with it. That's how the First Amendment works.

Donald Trump has repeatedly declared he will only respect the results of an election if he is the winner. He's a habitual liar and cheater. He has no respect for the rules of any game, including laws. He has called soldiers who die in battle "suckers and losers"; there is not a jot of patriotism in him. He has the personality of a spoiled ten-year-old.

Moreover, we've already seen what a Trump administration looks like: nepotism, cronyism, and utter ineptitude. It should be a crime to support someone like Trump for high office; no one but an enemy of our country can rationally do so.

Freedom of speech does not extend to yelling "fire!" in a crowded theater. Nor should the right to vote extend to supporting someone like Trump. If you vote for Trump, you should be disenfranchised.

I completely disagree with your closing paragraph though.

Disenfranchisement for opinions or who you vote for is against what America stands for. Much like both of Donald John Trump's campaigns for President of the United States of America.

I still can't quite grok that he actually won once.

Picking the guy you dislike sure as (expletive) ain't it.

I saw something similar on the front of Lower Mills CVS last night too, "Donald Trump 2024" same paint and spray writing.

People proclaiming their support for the Biggest Loser, Donald, is fine with me. Just keep it to your own property or places you have permission for. I love the First Amendment, it tickles me pink to see a free country where my contractor wears a "Let's Go Brandon!" hat. Defacing others' property is a no no, though.

There is a big Donald Trump 2024 grafiti on a huge boulder on Redfield St. (end of Morrissey after the rink) where someone more progressive, yet just as defacey, spray painted Prisoner in red. No thanks. Keep it to your timelines / voting booths, everyone.

Wasn’t there a popular song called Prisoner in Red?

Prisoner was added after the fact.

The magats are out in droves doing this crap.. praying to their master.

I was on the bus a few weeks ago in the evening going inbound back into town (chelsea). The only people on the bus were me, and these two latino ladies and a baby in a carriage.

A few stops later, some old white dude (older than me) gets on. Sits across from the latino ladies who are having a conversation in spanish. The old fart is waving to the baby in the carriage. The ladies smile and carry on their conversation in spanish.

The old fart keeps waving at the baby (the baby isn't responding btw).. then he says

"Trump 2024" and pumps his fist in the air. "he's gonna win, yanno"

The two latino ladies just look at him and smile. I don't think they understood or even cared what he was saying except "please leave us alone".

I mean wtf old fart... is this some kinda flex? or just so giddy that trump might win that you gotta flex it to anyone who might remotely listen?

Or maybe he was flexing b/c Trump might get rid of "undesirables" like those latino ladies and give Chelsea back to the white people? (sad to say, I've come across this mantra here in Chelsea among older white people...)

Like I said, it's a sickness. Out of nowhere gotta flex that you're a deplorable trump supporter.

There was literally no reason to do this except to flex... or just act crazy. Or both.

They love to throw the term "identity politics" around, but then they define their identity by tying themself to a "rich" man who wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire.

He's a poor man's idea of a rich man, a stupid man's idea of a smart man and a weak man's idea of a strong man.

Safe to say that a poor & stupid weak person spent their money & time to deface public property for him.

I say this with a Papa who was on second engine to the Chelsea Fire and didn’t sleep for 3 days…but a lot of Chelsea want to go back to when the city burned daily from insurance fires and the schools got taken over by BU. Makes MAGA revisionist history seem tame

I’m reminded of a segment from Saturday Night Live years ago when, ironically, Rudy Giuliani was the host. To counter rampant graffiti around New York City, the gag was that they were going to spray paint, “SUCKS,” under every tag. So, now just add, “In Jail,” for the ones for Orange 45.

Found it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evKuSq_GDkw

Tags all over the city. I don't care.

What it lacks in form it makes up with political ragebait. Which is a form of art.

They could send that crazed bloodhound, BU Police Officer Nancy O'Loughlin after the writer. Like Ahab v Moby Dick or Javert v Jean Valjean

Spray paint isn't something that's newsworthy, but it's in favor of DJT and suddenly people care. Not a supporter of the Donald myself (or tagging) but it is entertaining watching all the (wait for it) pearl-clutching.

Yes it often does depend on content but location is also important.

Graffiti consequences are also newsworthy here.
