Citizen complaint of the day: Not Art really not art now

Remains of a light pole with modified NOT ART stencil

A concerned citizen filed a 311 complaint about the graffiti on the remains of a light pole at Rutherford Avenue and Essex Street in Charlestown, thoughtfully circling the offending graffiti to make it easier to find, although without any indication whether the objection is to the original "NOT ART" stencil, the additions that make it somehow even worse, if possibly funnier, or both.

guy is the reason media like "die hipster' exists.

not that I condone violent ideations toward hipsters.

Show me on the doll where the "Not Art" tag hurt you.

Snot Fart.

Die hipster itself died in… [checks notes] 2013.

Reminds me of the days when there was not one single "no passing through" sign anywhere on the T that didn't have the "p" and the "th" scratched out. Not one single one on any line. This type of thing amused some immature souls.

Not to mention the "ASS STANCE" callboxes in T stations. I once did see one with the "I". Once.

I haven't lived in Boston in over a decade but I'm glad to see the people there are still joyless grinds!

Both links send you to to Maps, I was expecting the first to link directly to the complaint

Link fixed.

So the rusted broken bottom of the light pole is fine with the complainant, it wasn’t until somebody painted words on it that they started to get disgusted.

Neglect leading to decay on one hand, and deliberate vandalism on the other. These two are not the same.

One is a physical danger to pedestrians and one isn't.

Needs more Mooninites.

The perfect addition for city council chambers.

I mean they're not even bad words, it's just a mildly rude little joke. This is something that elementary school kids (and people like me) can laugh at and it won't do them any harm.

I'm saving this image to my desktop. This is peak art.

Trip hazard waiting to cause liability for the city.

Anyone remember that one at the T stop?
