Transit Police report "a large affray amongst juveniles" at the JFK/UMass T stop around 2:40 p.m. on Wednesday ended with four teenagers under arrest, one after he allegedly tried to shank another combatant with a knife that could be disguised as a pen.

Statistics vs perception

I did not view the incident but have observed several similar situations.
4, 6, 8+ yoots ready to go.
The stats may say we are safer but the perception when you are on a train or platform sends a different message.
Part could be just fewer commuters and adults riding so the trouble makers stick out more and feel less inhibited.

I was wating for the train at the shooting on the MA Ave Orange Line platform several years back. It started as a group of kids brawling. Frankly, I was terrified. That was my perception.
Does carrying a camouflaged weapon add time to your sentence in Boston? I'm pretty sure the length of that blade will.

The length of that blade is 55 mm (slightly over 2 inches). Don't panic.

The Windows calculator has a conversion>length option. I use it all the time, unless the dimension facing me is a multiple of one of the few that I can remember. 25 mm is close to an inch. They taught us the metric system in high school, but most all the equivilancies have faded from memory.
